to be fair she did tell XH that her plan was to offer SYR a chance to confess to his crimes because she expected…
in ep 32 she says to him: "you have yet to be doomed forever. [...] i know you still have a clear conscience. this is the last chance i'm giving you." if SYR had agreed to go down the right path with her and confess to his crimes to the emperor, then she could've gotten her name cleared!
(+ in ep 33 when they meet in jail she brings up that night's incident, and says: "i once believed your conscience was intact and gave you a chance.")
Is the medicine that Consort Li has been feeding the Emperor of any significance? It seems that way based on the…
i was also wondering the same since the cut seemed pretty intentional... but i can't imagine how harming the emperor would benefit her, especially after she refused to collude with princess wanning/king cheng
What does the 3 word phrase say in episode 36 please? This is quite frustrating.
ๆถๅฎ็คผ? it's something like closing ceremony โย so it's a celebration(?) of the end of the drama. like a sort of finale (but it doesn't necessarily mean 36 is the final ep)
i turned a friend of mine into a WJY fan by getting them to watch this drama, so after this we're going to watch…
yeah it'll be my friend's first watch but for me it'll be my fourth time! it was the first cdrama i ever watched, and to this day it still remains as one of my top favourites
i've grown sorta used to it but sometimes it still throws me off too ๐ฎโ๐จ the first person pov shot is…
yeah i really appreciate the chinese opera elements, even if my knowledge of it is very basic! my reaction to it is more based on my technical understanding haha it doesn't ruin the experience for me, it's just that i can't ignore the annoying voice in my head that disagrees with that particular camera angle ๐
i am once again thinking about how in another universe, if the characters had met differently, XFF could've saved princess wanning ๐ฉ obviously it would be a completely different story/genre but god do i think about how they could explore themes like gendered paths to justice, female rage, women supporting women... i can only dream it up in my head
i've grown sorta used to it but sometimes it still throws me off too ๐ฎโ๐จ the first person pov shot is…
i agree it works for some of the high-tension/emotional moments! but as someone who's worked on films before, i find it very disorienting when it breaks the spatial continuity + viewer's immersion ๐ (e.g. when two characters are talking to each other through two shots or OTS shots, but then it suddenly switches to first person POV without establishing the gradual transition there โย there's a reason directors usually avoid letting actors 'spike' the camera)
the way princess wanning's backstory allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of her character was done so beautifully…
also screaming at how the literary concept of "the (gothic) double" applies to XFF + princess wanning... one chose rebirth while the other chose destruction............
the way princess wanning's backstory allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of her character was done so beautifully ugh she's really one of the most fleshed-out female antagonists i've ever come across. li meng's acting is incredible
that type of shot when the actors look directly at the camera while speaking their lines is so overused and awkward.…
i've grown sorta used to it but sometimes it still throws me off too ๐ฎโ๐จ the first person pov shot is such a weird directorial choice tbh it's the only thing that drives me crazy about its otherwise stunning cinematography
(+ in ep 33 when they meet in jail she brings up that night's incident, and says: "i once believed your conscience was intact and gave you a chance.")
