The drama has a good balance of romance and conspiracy, but it's lacking the thrilling , intriguing or engaging…
yeah i kinda get what you mean! this drama does take its time with one major conspiracy instead of the usual formula we get from other conspiracy/revenge dramas (usually something like antagonist stirring up trouble → leads figure it out and deliver a payback → rinse n repeat until the final major arc)
the plot beats in this drama keep it interesting for me though, so i don't mind the slower approach. it feels more character-driven
It's just weirder that he's more shy than her. The trailers and his character in the beginning didn't seem shy…
that's valid!! i guess to me i don't find it too weird because he only trained her up to kill him for his plan. so it makes sense he'd be awkward when their relationship instead took a turn towards something he didn't foresee happening (i doubt romance was at the forefront of his mind throughout the years he dealt with the qingzhou massacre aftermath)
((my question is more about people's expectations of his villainy, not his romance with ML))
based on the posters we got before the drama started, i personally thought that LM's actress does have a pretty handsome face that would suit a female general. but watching her on camera is no fun... she barely has any expressions ?_?
I believe most of these comments are made by men. No woman wants to be mistreated, humiliated and placed in the…
gosh YES to all you've said... i wish people who want MJH to act one certain way would realise that it'd only cause his character to be flattened! and that's just bad writing! the drama wouldn't be enjoyable!!!
I don’t understand why some like violence against women. There is enough of that in the real world, would like…
!!! hard agree. truly we as a society have progressed the need for plot points involving violence against women as a shock value (even in horror media. i'm sick of it). i don't trust most writers to handle such a sensitive topic, and i don't think it has a place in this drama if it's meant to be a romance
I suppose (guessing here) they want him to threaten her more and be less sweet. Maybe some more hot kisses ala…
thank you for sharing all your thoughts!!!! i always love reading your comments ^^ you make some really good points in terms of the writing when it comes to their relationship progression. i think it does suffer a bit due to the 32-ep constraint because i don't feel that they've spent enough time building up a 100% satisfying slow burn (which tbh i can kinda accept because of the way their backstories are set up)
i guess it's just that when it comes to MJH the character — independent of his relationship with ML — i struggle to see how any of us viewers would root for a male lead who's truly a 'black flag' hah
genuine question for people who say drama MJH "isn't evil enough"— in what way would he be villainous enough for you? (because personally if they stayed true to the novel and made him a rapist he would've been irredeemable to me)
it's so slick and we'll edited, and everyone looked like they really were hurting people. Even Qingyan's fight…
yesss the fact that the hits have power + weight behind them and actually connect is what really sells it for me!! sometimes i see fight scenes where there are too many cuts to hide the fact that there isn't a flow/impact and it immediately takes me out of it
So my question is: Are ML and FL in good terms? Or there is another lead closer to FL? I like CDrama where ML…
similar to the leads in the double, the ML and FL in this drama get close to each other as they're working towards the same goal, although i'd say their relationship isn't very straightforwardly 'good' because of the setup (you'll understand when you start the first ep) — but they definitely only have eyes for each other! ^__^
also shoutout to the plastic uterus model for being the funniest visual motif i've ever seen in a movie
not sure how much to spoil, but it's got to do with the plot point of jaehee's unplanned pregnancy! i wouldn't say it's any sort of deep symbolism; i think it's just a fun statement for her to run out with it in her grip because she deserves to make a choice re: her bodily autonomy without being judged for it
the plot beats in this drama keep it interesting for me though, so i don't mind the slower approach. it feels more character-driven
