i personally like that they cut out the identity intrigue (aside from for mei lin still not knowing that MJH is the actual shadow works master) earlier so that they can focus on carrying out the revenge plot! it's more interesting to me that we're getting new discoveries like how a conspirator involved in the massacre wasn't actually killed
