K-Drama Why the AI Propaganda?
Honestly this was a very good representation of how queerness is not immediate or strictly defined, and how people can just love each other without really even understanding. However, the amount of times that they shoved a generative AI chatbot down my fucking throat made me want to stop this drama immediately and bash it online. I was genuinely both surprised and thoroughly pissed that it was even included, much less used as a plot point to make the parents more susceptible to queerness; because that's just not how that works. On top of that, the AI gave them incorrect and useless answers anyway; basic critical thinking would have helped them understand what not to do if they had just thought about it for 2 seconds more. Why do you need a GenAI to tell you to not text them silly irrelevant things, especially when the AI pulls from other queries on the internet such as blogs and I guess the Japanese version of Reddit where you could have just gone to directly? I wasn't even upset that I didn't even get a romantic hand hold, much less a kiss, because Japanese dramas are known to still be fairly censored, especially when they have idols as the main cast. But the generative AI was an absolute spit in my face; it's goes against everything creating a drama like this would stand for. How can you tell be talking about progressive views and a world that is trying to break boundaries, while also simultaneously furthering a knowledge crisis and a literacy gap through the use of GenAI chatbots? That also just makes me question how much other generated AI did they use to create the show itself was the music AI? Were the establishing shots on that house that looked animated AI? Were all of the cloud scenes AI? Was any CGI actually used or was it all just a cop out?
