Actually I didn't watch the donghua of TBOY. Afaik the screenwriter of the drama was not the author in TBOY. That's all I know.

It's not possible to put all the storyline into the donghua. As it's all about animation. They would need more money and time. So maybe because of that they shortened a lot.
