welcome back! I don't know what ep was the last one you've seen but from ep9 we got some eye contact scenes, staring…
RIGHT I keep hearing about censorship this and that about this drama but I feel like it's obvious to expect that if you're watching an adaption of a danmei? Even if Japan did censor more of it, it's still plenty enjoyable and regardless with what potential scenes they take out, the intent and acting is still there for the eye to see. I'm a bit frustrated... they've worked so hard on this drama and for what 😭
I loved everything about this drama, seriously! It was such a beautiful watch even though I cried like a baby multiple times. The characters felt real, the acting felt real, the script felt real. This is exactly what I look for in these dramas because of the pure factor that it made me feel like I was looking into the life of someone with a realistic perspective. Don't get me wrong, I love fantasy plots and whatnot but as Wang said "you need to face the truth". That truth is painful but it made me feel seen as well as many many others. The director and actors did an amazing job showing this through just 8 episodes! The only problem I will always have with watching and rewatching this drama (in the future) is the mother. Very realistic, so realistic in fact that her dialogue made me want to punch my screen in OR start crying because she is so manipulative and toxic to everyone around her. I understand what she went through but she doesn't need to bring her son down with her when she's in such a tough spot. He wants to live his life but she won't let him. It almost felt mocking in a way to see the last scene of her thinking about more IMPORTANT things like, for example: her sunglasses. You're son is literally crying right in front of you and you're more concerned about your damn glasses? I also doubt her prejudice against gay people and LGBTQ+ as a whole has gone away either. She got her way and it left such a bitter and sour taste in my mouth (and not the good kind). And personally, I'd like to think that when Wang soon enough leaves that mother of his and tries looking for In, because I think after that much time has passed, In would have realized a good portion of his feelings. OR, even better, In goes looking for Wang and they meet once again at the 180 degrees longitude. (Think of the chopstick metaphor they were talking about at the dinner table, when Wang used them to eat his noodles and said "all right, they can never meet, but when they're placed next to each other like this... they become more practical as if they're made for eachother.")
