Nielsen ratings are out and not encouraging. Nationwide: 4.942% and Seoul: 6.000%. I think KSH is going to complete the triple crown of post-army fails... At least, his drama did not fail because of bad writing, but because his story is too specific to appeal to the masses

I opened an account, because of people like you. People that think that they are the conscience of MDL. I am not sure whether you are in prison and slipped in a mobile phone in the place where the sun never shines or simply unemployed, but you are online 24/7, respond within seconds and always nagging. It is unbelievable, but you always love to correct people for having a different opinion. Unless you are actually in prison, go out in the real world, find a real relationship and learn how hard it is to stay together if you both are unsure

You are right, it is emotional cheating. But I am only saying that we tend to measure with other standards for other movies/dramas. Titanic's whole cheating occurred in a span of days and it was physical. Which is even more f-ed up, if you think of it.

The one does not excuse the other of course. But I am more interested to see why this drama garners so much hate by a few. Is it really by the actions of the leads? Or is because of the dreadguys that has ruined it for everyone, until the point people are getting vulnerable to every wrong move?

What am I trying to do with the first half of my post? I am only trying to say that "relationships", "marriage" and "monogamy" are constructs invented by society. In the animal kingdom, there is no such thing. Is it morally wrong to pursue someone else's boyfriend ? Absolutely. Does it goes against nature? Not necessarily.

So what am I trying to do? Explaining that lust is something you cannot control..

Jeez, perhaps you are really dense.

Yeah, but here it is the same thing essentially. They are pretending to like each other, but deep down they do not. The girlfriend certainly does not, because why is she even refusing to have lunch with him? Or refusing to invite him to her parents? Or spying on him? He does not really like his girlfriend either. He thinks he does, but why would you get drunk with KYJ and her friends and not tell your girlfriend about it. If it is really platonic, you just go straight to your girlfriend and said that you drank with her. The fact that they are not able to communicate openly means that their relationship is phony. It is not firm.

Past adventures? I only made some jokes with you at the It's Okay Not To Be Okay's comment section. You even told me that "I hit oil", when I told you that the female lead was mentally torturing the male lead... I have never really embarked in a conversation with you otherwise, which would be difficult as I only registered this account today.

I only noticed that you were really vocal at this forum about the wrong things, whilst many features of the actress of Psycho, which are similar to KYJ, were considered bad-ass.

Did I accidentally hit the nail on the head and detected that you are not disliking this drama per say, but the actors instead?

Morally it is wrong, but instinctively it is the right thing. In nature, no animal will abstain him/herself from the other, because the potential mating partners is not available anymore. It is our culture that raised us to think that it is wrong.

But Pranksalot, although it is morally wrong to pursue another person's boyfriend, why are you so angry about it? Even in the West - where polygamy, cheating etc - are absolutely not-done in comparison to Asia, they can still appreciate dramas/movies with these kinds of elements. For example, in Titanic Rose was engaged, but she still slept with Jack. No one really complained about their ethics. Other dramas that you appreciated also had these tropes. Whether it is CLOY or KSH's new drama. Are you sure you that the problem is with the plot? Or is there more? Perhaps you do not like both actors?

The juggling that some do to defend this pathetic drama is even comical. I hope that Ji Chang Wook goes back to…
I am going to be painfully honest with you. Although Latin-Americans and South-East Asians think that they are important to Hallyu. The Koreans do not give a lot about these countries. They only care about Korea and possibly about China and Japan as a market to export their products. Because of this, the Koreans will not care about any cultural sensitivities. In fact, if casting an actor wearing black face and let hem eat shit for a living would help the popularity in those three countries, I am certain that they would do it as well.

I seriously hate this attitude, but one of the most used jokes in those countries is to reply to a nagging family member that if he/she does not shut up that they are going to marry a black person (sometimes they use variations such as Filipinos). This will frustrate the family members, as they consider black and South-East Asian people as the lowest of the lowest.

Understanding a little bit how they think, I am trying to make you aware that almost no Korean or Chinese is offended by any of the characters. It is wrong to think that Koreans or any Confucian society such as Japan and China gives a rat's ass about our views regarding sex and race. The fact that it is distributed by IQiyi - a Chinese platform - does not help it either. I would not be surprised that if the Chinese like this kind of humor that they will make it more offensive and more racist. Since the ratings are trending higher in Korea as well, it can also become an unexpected career milestone for both actors, against everyone's wishes outside those three countries

Are you sure? I do not think you have seen a lot of dramas with him then. This is a picture of an old script reading: https://0.soompi.io/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/24174835/eum-moon-suk.jpg. I do not see a significant difference in skin tone: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMDQ3MmM4YzctOGQ5ZS00NDcwLWE3ZDEtNDkzNWY4MTAwYzIyXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNDY5MjMyNTg@._V1_.jpg.

Bill Kellogg once said: "If you are on a continuous search to be offended, you will always find what you are looking for, even when it isn't there."

I am pretty sure that for KSH, it does not differ that much in real life. If he is walking on the streets of Seoul, he will be lucky if he comes home with all his clothes still on

What I do not like is that she has the tendency to mentally torture the ML (ripping the butterfly, taking his patient away, writing "wrong" messages to the ML's brother). I get that she has an anti-social personality disorder, but I do not hope that the ML will ignore this behavior. Until so far, the ML has clearly said that he does not like her behavior. I hope he remains adamant about it and only falls in love with her after she shows some improvement. I do not want another drama where the ML straight up copes with any of the erratic behavior and goes with it.

Oh crap, if my sis had told me that's how it ends I never would have started the drama version of beauty inside......I'm…
The Beauty Inside would be much more powerful if the ML would recognize the FL in any form, because it would fit the saying "love is blind". At the end of the drama, he was still not able to recognize her, but he fell in love with her character and went for some dangerous surgery that he was afraid to do a few years ago... Pretty weak ending. I think here it would be the same, where the FL would become fully normal.

I think that ML is taking his brother to the psychiatrist, because he wants to know what happened to his mother. But his brother flips every time he is reminded of it, so they need to find a way to let him talk comfortably

I admire the ambition to write a story about mental health, but is no one thinking that they will magically be able to "cure" mental health in the end? I want a story where KSH will learn to live with SYJ's flaws, but since this is kdrama I am thinking that they will find some imaginary way to heal her. Just as with Dr John, where they found a medicine to cure his inability to feel pain, or just as with The Beauty Inside, where they found some surgery to heal the ML's face blindness. I would not mind if the drama ends without a happy ending

He is not wearing blackface. It is his natural color. Do not let the media brainwash you into thinking that the average Korean is white. The majority is as tanned as him. But due to the makeup industry and all kinds of filters, they suddenly turn their celebs milky white.

It is the Confucian-system. It is about education. It is not even about the nature of the job. For example, flight attendants are always highly regarded, because they select only beautiful, well-mannered and highly educated women. But it certainly does not require a lot of raw brainpower to become one (you require social skills and good understanding of safety standards).

If you would require a Phd to become a store manager, I am pretty sure that he would have been respected. Even if he is still doing the same tasks.
