Just watched EP1 and this series feels more slice of life than a political drama. I assume the action picks up?
Super late, but while the action does pick up a little, I think it never really gets into a full “political drama” the way most people imagine the term. I’d say it’s mostly a short and dramatic-but-never-too-heavy show that has a presidential election as the background context
this sounds unique for those who have been watching what are your thoughts so far?
Two months late, but it's pretty great! I've only finished the first four episodes, but it's surprisingly well-done. Very character-based drama, not much of a plot that ties everything together yet, but you see characters slowly working through their trauma, which is pretty therapeutic for the viewer as well~

I only discovered this article series of yours after seeing your Xuanhuan one, but now I'm reading all three. I've never been able to get into Chinese dramas because I found the "magic" confusing and was unable to feel passion towards people flying around fighting on rooftops (sorry if these descriptions are offensive hahaha) but these articles are so helpful in recognizing how much I have to learn. I'm motivated to try them again now with a more open mind and attitude. Thanks so much for this ^_^
