This. I don’t think Mon used her power at all this season, even though she has some of the most badass scenes…
i agree with everything you've said !! but could you mark the comment as spoiler? we might spoil the show to someone coming here before watching the series hehe
i really dislike this season. i had high hopes after season 1, but after they kind of finished their initial mission the plot really went in a weird direction. the whole ministry and virus thing was so unnecessary. the virus is said to be super powerful but at the end of the day most of those who got infected in the second half got to use their potentials just fine. and to me a group of high school students winning against the ministry is not credible at all.
they introduced so many useless character that did little to nothing. the way they changed so many dynamics and personalities in this season really pissed me off. they couldn't keep on with the character personality even thought it passed a year since season one. for example punn, has always been a smart, loyal and good character but all of the sudden he switched sides just because of a few compliments ?? it doesn't make sense. claire's diva personality too, we got a teaser of it in episode one and two but that was it.
some of the potentials got little to no development, or in claire's case a boring upgrade. i get that her upgrade was somewhat useful but still, giving descriptions to what they feel like? for real? others got lots of development like ohm and punn but weren't used as much. punn got so much potential in his hands and it just got brushed off after maybe one or two episodes, the guy could literally replicate everyone's potential and the only one who acknowledged it was the new director.
another problem with this season for me were all those things that never got a proper explanation. that one episode in which claire reads their emotions and gets surprised by what wave was fearful of, what was it? at firts i thought they were going to come out with some deadly illness or something but then no one ever talked about it. claire and punn relationship? they broke up but did they get together later on? they made up and kept on hanging out just fine, but they never made clear if they got back together or not.
the thing that annoyed me the most through the whole season was the screen time of the main characters. to me the whole gang is considered the main cast for obvious reasons, but we always get pang doing whatever. at the end of the day pang contributes less then half of the class but always goes to do things by himself. i might be a little biased on this since pang is one of my least favorite characters but whatever. the last part of the final episode, why did we only get to see pang? TT i get the video thing but i wish they showed us the whole gang graduating. i mean the title is literally THE GIFTED: GRADUATION AND THERE'S NO GRADUATION SCENE? i mean the school must have been in a difficult situation since of the whole mess with the gifted class but still, let us see all the guys together !!! the series did the characters dirty.
plot wise the finale makes little to no sense, in my opinion it would have been better to follow future grace's idea, allowing everyone to have some kind of power is quite irresponsible, it's the message of the series, yeah ok, but my point still stands, do you wanna give any kind of potential to a possible murder or criminal?
my overall opinion is that they could have ended with ss1, even tho the open ending is quite not satisfying, we would have avoided the mess that ss2 is.
at first i was like 'oh no, another enemies to lovers' but then plotwist ~~ TT TT when is this coming out?!! i want to watch it asap
