I understand the mixed comments and feelings on this drama. This drama can be interpreted in many different ways.
- The most simplistic way would to be think of this as a story of a stalker who wins the prize. ML is quite literally the stalker. He is the one with secrets. He can also be seen as creepy. - FL on some level has regrets with respect to her Ex. Some may view her as normal person who had a bad relationship. Others may view her as having residual feelings for Ex. Some may view it is nothing other than a normal arranged marriage wife who has a past. Some may feel angry that she doesn't set boundaries with people and keep letting everyone walkover her husband. All valid views depending on how you feel the story.
If this was a Kdrama, FL and ML would never have married. ML will be 2ML and 2ML is the one true love. ML is the guy who plays house with FL, till she goes back to her one true love. Fortunately this was not a Kdrama and they got married in first episode.
I lost interest near the end. It's a weird choice that drama makers thought that people who were watching this drama till the end, wanted to see 2ML and gave him this much screentime in the last episode. Know your audience people. Make drama for your audience. Give us atleast 10 minutes of domestic couple if people stick around for 28 episodes.
MLs crash out in 21st episode should have been a normal crashout rather than sacrificing for the greater good kind. FL had never once considered the feelings of the ML before involving herself in any of the situations. So the crashout was due and it would have been good.
This is not a drama for first watch but a drama to rewatch. You will feel it's long while watching first time but if you rewatch it once, you will keep rewatching it often. I feel it is one of the best second chance romance genre. This might also be the best kdrama OST album
Decided to increase the rating of Love in the clouds to 9.5 and hence it makes it to my Top dramas list. The main reason for my initial 9 rating was Situ Ling but now I can pretend he doesn't exist during rewatch.
I can agree with anything but when did they portray Marquis as a dumb person? Can you give an example?
Plenty of examples. Guy saves the kid and her mother and sends off both of them to a remote village with few guards knowing fully well that the other guy is searching for them and the kid is important for his own future plans. Kid is dead if not for the plot armour. Not once but twice lost the captive prince's son. Where are the people protecting or killing that prince to stop him from escaping? Where are his backup forces whenever he went to palace to confront about something? I didn't get to see any of great Marquis that drama kept saying to us. We were not shown much of that except told that he is great.
The best and worst of Pursuit of Jade is the first 17 episodes. So much time was used on leads and their village life that none of the characters ever had any back stories. We never knew who they were or their motivations. I was not even able to know the names of most of them.
Even though this is a female lead oriented drama, we never got to see the real Marquis. He only came across as a dumb person with no acumen of strategy or basic common sense. FLs character was elevated to a stupid level that she is able to kill career military generals in 2 blows.
At the end, this is such a wasted potential. It could have been more. Rating 7/10
