Love ML, dislike FL... actually, I like the supporting cast more than I like her too.
Asides from looks (he's really handsome!), ML's character is a good balance of playfulness, maturity and is really dependable. XH acts well too.
FL on the other hand... Her character isn't weak, but she chooses not to do anything proactively and is always not accountable to her actions (despite being older). Regardless of what SFL did, the FL, too, is not totally blameless - she didn't reject when SFL asked her to help court ML, and while it's hard to admit that she likes ML in her situation, she rejects him verbally but allows him to kiss her. Her actions and indecisiveness makes it difficult for her to be likeable.
Like this drama, except that that have little scenes of them as a couple and was draggy during the siblings arc. Would have liked more scenes of just the leads.
Maybe ML started on the wrong note, but throughout the whole drama, he's the only one trying and giving. And he's been trying to change for the better. FL's inferiority complex is so strong, yet she blames and vents on the poor guy for almost everything. Didn't see her contributing to their relationship at all.
I like LXX here, love his character! First time seeing GYX acting a role that's so assertive - the ones I've watched, she's always kinda like the damsel in distress 😅
Recommending this!! Hard to come by a good short drama that has a legit plot that is well-developed (most have loop holes or abrupt/absurd scenes), it's almost as good as a "full-length" drama. ML and FL acts well too.
P.S. watch if you're looking for a good story development. There's romance but it doesn't have many intimate scenes like the most short dramas.
Plots gets messy from the middle part, and certain parts become illogical (i.e. emperor taking SFL's side without evidence without thought). Tired of seeing the SFL repeatedly ambushing the FL.
Decent drama, but ending is very rushed and not explained clearly (FL just suddenly becomes a female emperor with ML at her side, but unclear of their official status except that he helps her with official work and thar she is expecting).
I really love this, but the portion after the crown prince's death was just... draggy. It was hard to watch as it felt like the writers were just stalling for more airtime. Luckily, the last part at Qingzhou redeemed the show quite a bit. But I'm still lamenting how we could've more airtime of the main couple instead :/
And... why so many unnecessary deaths? Which made me think the writer just wanted to make it into some sort of tragedy... Some of the deaths really feels forced...
Still, I really adore how much ML is so devoted to FL. Although I started this because of WJY, I've become more of a LXY fan. He really acts well (and handsome too)! WJY though, this is the first time she couldn't really pull off some expressions in some scenes. But she nailed it for most part!
Was really looking forward to it because of Jung Hae In and well, the childhood troupe. Sadly it got draggy in the middle and just got kinda boring to watch...

Only finished this because of the ML.
