Since you read the webtoon, one question. Does it really end like it did in the drama? Or, it isn't finalized…
The webtoon is complete now and Jung and Seol are still together! It plays out quite differently. Inha isn't as crazy as she is in the drama, Inho isn't as lovesick. I highly recommend reading the webtoon because it shows how Jung came to like Seol even though initially he despised Seol. I watched the drama two years and just finished reading the webtoon yesterday and I can definitely conclude that I liked the webtoon much better even though CITT drama is one of my faves.
So I watched the drama, read the webtoon and then watched the movie. I tried watching the movie before I read the webtoon and I just couldn't get through it. The pacing was too fast and it just didn't make any sense. However, after reading the webtoon I can see that the movie was more loyal to the webtoon. As a stand-alone I wouldn't like the movie but since I'm a fan of the webtoon it was great to see some of my favorite scenes reenacted, scenes that were missing from the drama (how Jung came to like Seol, the hospital scene where he decides to pursue her, their honest conversation at his house). Overall, not a waste of my time, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who have not read the webtoon because they just would not get the essence of this movie.
I feel like people are super critical when there's idol actors/actresses in main roles. I watched this drama because this was apparently a cruel intentions remake, and I loved every bit of it. I love dramatic, heart-wrenching stories, also a bit of 'will-they-wont-they' so I enjoyed this drama a lot. This is actually one of my faves. Loved Woo Dohwan and will def watch more of his dramas. Some kdramas can be super monotonous with their fluffy plotlines and slapstick humor so this was definitely a breath of fresh air. Do watch it!
I have a different perspective. I do think you have some valid points about the execution not being perfect, but…
hmm I’m surprised people are so put off with the college bullying thing? This is a common occurrence in public universities in asia isn’t it? “Ragging”? Seniors can do sooo much shit to you I’ve seen it first hand..
