What I really appreciate about this drama is that it doesn't drag out the parts that they usually drag out. Like…
And now they aren't dragging out a break up. I mean that could mean this is going to have an open ending (which has been a trend for dramas this season) like suggested below but I'm choosing to go with the optimistic comments that this has a happy ending.
What I really appreciate about this drama is that it doesn't drag out the parts that they usually drag out. Like we didn't have to wait half the drama for them to get together and while they were separated a bit that wasn't dragged out either. Spoilers for the newest episode in the reply.
Exactly! Every new drama with an older man, younger woman you hear the same b*tching. Toxic feminism on full display.
I'm not even gonna touch the term toxic feminism because yikes. And I understand people are uncomfortable and respect that. Just I as I wish they would respect that some aren't and let us enjoy a fictional fantasy. But the general rhetoric seems to be "this is problematic and no one should watch it / it should not exist" - which to me implies people think we can't critically engage with the media we consume and therefore should not be exposed to it?
My thinking is are people being too critical when the younger partner is a woman? It feels like young women are constantly painted as victims with absolutely no agency of their own. And on the other side are we not being critical enough (or at all) when the younger partner is a man?
what's interesting about the age-gap wank over this drama is that I haven't seen half the negativity over Encounter. There's a 12 year age gap here between the actors and a 12 year age gap between the actors in Encounter. Is it because she's 19? Or because she's a young woman? I know we'd still be having this conversation if she were 25 and he was 37 because I keep seeing it happen all over fandoms lately.
I was gonna post this as a spoiler but the cat is out of the bag on the kiss scene at the end of episode 13 so I guess I don't have to. I'm sort of curious if the drama will discuss the issue of sex at all. I mean it's hinted at it and maybe where the end of 13 is leading us. But I'm curious about how the mysophobia affects that, will it be a problem? Will the drama address it at all?
I did not choose Twilight because it's the most realistic one nor because I like the books/movies. It's because…
as others I've said, rather than Twilight being the start of the vampire craze I'd argue that it's merely the most recent resurgence of a popular trope
When I first started getting into manga this was one of the first series' that I read and remains a favourite of mine, so I'm super excite to find there's a drama version!
It's odd to me that I still really enjoy this while also not feeling much of a spark between the leads, even when they kiss. It's almost like they are /too/ comfortable? I feel like they're best friends rather than lovers. But I'm still really enjoying their story despite not entirely feeling their romance?
Wow the comments are bad, nearly passed on this but the first episode is enjoyable, imo. I mean it's your typical opposites attract rom com set up. She's clearly coasting in life, likely has a Traumatic Backstory to explain why she not longer does the thing she loves; he's really proactive about life and looking to achieve his Dream (will probably have unsupportive rich parents?). There's a cast of quirky side characters... I feel like it's a little (maybe a lot) predictable. But apparently I enjoy formulaic romantic comedies?
I mean Haruta is entirely frustrating because a) he's rarely serious and so over the top and b) he just let's thing happen to him? Oh.... guess I'm engaged now? What? Also the very last scene is such a tease! We get this brief actually kinda sexy moment that isn't played for laughs and I was like, dang! where was that hiding?!
This is actually really cute. Really binge worthy, spent most of last night and tonight watching it.
Although as of episode 14 they haven't resolved any of the conflicts they've hinted at (Eun Sung being the Masked Girl, or Kevin being shady af), so maybe that's coming? Or maybe that's not the point?
Also the telling the future thing hasn't played as large a role as I thought it would.
Also also, did they just lowkey imply CEO Kang is a lesbian, I mean that's how I'm choosing to interpret "I don't like men" because dramaland is lacking in wlw!
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is when the shoe drops about the accident that killed her mother. Because I feel like that's gonna be angsty.

This got long.... I guess I had feelings....
