Yea. He isn't the same as the novel. I think the series has shifted the characterization somewhat, but there is cohesion around their concept of the story. It is making me hang on every interaction to see where they are going with it all. The tone is different in many places, and it still works for me.

Aw, ya'll, got me with this. I think it is always worth it to love even if it goes badly. Lessons learned are important. And I say this as the person who wouldn't even ever tell someone I liked them so I couldn't even make the mistake Joe is making. That is truly worse. No lesson learned.

I wasn't sure about the casting after just having read the book, but I am locked into the series creators' vision now.

Ming feels something and can show some protectiveness there, but then he makes him sleep on the floor!

I think Ming doesn't even know how he feels about Joe. He is so allergic to feeling vulnerable, that he is the last to realize how awesome Joe really is.
