this is so cool and inspiring!!! i'm so happy that you have found something that you love, and i wish you success and happiness in your studies and your future! thanks for sharing your story :D
okay, the last two eps were amazing :D i need more episodes lol i'm loving the theories in the comments too!!!
lee sung yeon (if that even is his real name/was his initial name) is such an annoying character lmao; lee tae hwan plays his character really well despite his adorable face i do believe that mr lee was with mi so during the kidnapping; the scars, the cable ties, etc. idk why the writer (lee sung yeon) is saying otherwise (lying/psychological factors????), and the lee family seem to be quite quiet about the whole situation. mr lee is hiding the truth too D:
i love the characters in this drama; they're all so unique and fun! ji ah is too cute!!! :3 i really wanna see her in more roles (please give her a good lead role!!!)
this show is actually really good so far!!! tbh, most romcoms have bland storylines, but this one is just so intriguing and fresh, despite the cliche tropes!!
I think that scene was to show that she will be judged either way. Like people who say wearing short skirts provokes…
i agree, but they clearly lacked knowledge when addressing it. yes!! people don't seem to understand that disgusting people will harass you with or without clothes! they're the problem; not our clothing
yea, it doesn't prevent people from judging you, but rather it helps you carry yourself the way you want to carry yourself, and also portrays and maintains your faith and identity :) it was just one of the reasons tho; there are many more important reasons why we wear it :D
ugh i hate it when people blame the victim of harassment/rape by telling them that they "shouldn't have worn that short skirt!!". although it's upsetting that sexual harassment exists, i'm glad for movements like #metoo for bringing awareness and calling people out. i agree; the problem lies in their minds!
If the hijab and the burkha prevent others from judging you, why is it that only women who wear it? Don't men…
men have their own hijab e.g they can't show their entire torso, wear tight clothing, show the upper portion of their legs etc. it's different to women's hijab because of how it was carried out in the prophetic times, and for other reasons. tbh, many men don't follow the rules due to patriarchy and their superiority complex, but that's not islamic so, men have their own hijab too btw, the hijab and burka does not only prevent others from judging; there are many more important reasons.
yea, that scene was unnecessary imo. tbh, whenever i see a different culture on korean tv, it is portrayed completely wrong. man who dies to live, for instance, was really disrespectful not only to islam, but to arab cultures. also, we have skits on variety shows that portray africans as poor people, and refer to africa as a country lmao. not to mention, the stupid amount of blackface. people should learn about things before making a judgement about it.
"One of the many reasons why is because in this society, people are judged by the way they look; their body shape,…
I agree! However, I'm aware that people will judge you no matter what, but my hijab allows me to portray myself differently and in adherence to what a good muslim should be :) that isn't the only reason why; just one of many :)
also, that's true! i hate it when people say that if you're not covered, you have higher chances of sexual harrassment/rape (that's bs lmao - people in burkas get harassed :/ ) i didn't say that you cannot be intelligent, confident, etc. :D it's whatever floats your boat; different people feel good in different things :) i just prefer wearing the hijab, but people automatically assume i'm 'forced' to, and 'oppressed', and whilst many are, not all are :) i just find it strange that people scream "let women wear what they want!", but when i wear the hijab, they tell me "let me help you" and try to take it off - that's oppressing! i should be allowed to wear whatever floats my boat!
that's cool :D indonesia? i really want to go there hahah! apparently the food there is really good!
i saw the hijab and burka portion of the episode, and honestly, that was so unnecessary. yes, unfortunately, some women are forced to wear it. but lemme break it down: 1. The hijab (head covering) is a commandment for different reasons. Classical theistic religions have it too e.g. Christianity. Some wear it simply because God said so. Others wear it for diff reasons. As a Muslim (I was born into Islam, but chose it after researching all religions), i wear the hijab. it may be a command, but it was my choice to wear it. One of the many reasons why is because in this society, people are judged by the way they look; their body shape, the size of their booty etc lol. wearing hijab allows people to not judge by the way i look, but by my intellect, my mind, my personality, morals etc. they think beyond the surface. 2. The burka (long dress) is part of the hijab dress code. Many do not wear it. I do, in diff colours , or maybe by wearing a maxi dress or skirt. Why? because it also adds to my hijab; it's part of it. whilst many are forced to wear it, (islam is strictly against force), i was not. surprisingly, many CHOOSE to wear it. 3. The niqab (face covering) is not obligatory, and again, some are forced, some are not.
my point is that the context in which go ara's character wore the hijab was disrespectful, and lacked knowledge. yes, some men force women to wear it, which is haram (forbidden is islam) and is morally wrong! however, she lacked knowledge when speaking about it; it isn't a garment of oppression that everyone makes it out to be like. the origin of the hijab, niqab, and burka is liberating. it was, and still is for some, freedom.
plus, what's up with the music in the background? i've noticed in korean dramas that they use punjabi/hindi/arab music in the background when talking about islam...many muslims are not those ethnicities lmao xD
btw, i'm not triggered :D i just wanted to say this because people misunderstand often (and i don't blame them; islam is portrayed negatively in the media. but what's the harm in learning something new? :)
also, i'm kinda busy rn, so i might be late when replying to comments about this (if there are any) :') if you have questions about islam, you could ask a trustworthy scholar/imam, or research using reliable sources :) there's no harm in learning something new!
edit: please don't start a war in the comments :) this is a drama site. i just wanted to point a flaw in the drama script, that's all :) respect to all! God bless <3
i cried so much in the last ep omg!!! grandma has a special place in my heart; what a wonderful and strong woman <3
ji an and dong hoon succeeding is what i wanted to see!!! i'm so happy for them! this drama portrayed relationships beautifully. the entire neighborhood was full of lovely, bubbly people (i loved jung hee!!) :D beautiful drama. i'm glad that they're happier now :')
i was looking through my 'completed' list and saw this...i couldn't even remember the story properly. imo, it was a really boring show. not memorable, and although the characters were nice, that's all i liked about the drama lol :) on the other hand, some people would really enjoy this, so give it a go if you want :D
