Haha I would probably complain about Lan Zhan if this were another drama. I got so overstimulated by the other characters that I actually felt relaxed whenever he came on screen. Btw I’m feeling better about the drama now so I decided to keep watching it. I can’t wait to see the goofier version of their relationship.

I feel like they are dragging the plot a bit and the number of characters is overwhelming. My brain has to work hard to remember everyone, which is ruining my enjoyment. I liked the beginning when the story was set in the present day. At which episode do they return to the present? The acting feels a bit over the top for me except for Lan Zhan and some of the older characters. The scenery is indeed beautiful, though. The same goes for the music.

ikr! I'm on ep 14 now and I started watching like a month ago. I'm having a hard time understanding the plot and feeling overwhelmed by too many characters. I'm also curious about Lan Zhan like you, didn't like anybody else as of now. I was very interested in the drama before they went to the past. I don't know when they'll go back to the present day of the drama.
As a BL fan, I noticed how my fellow bl fans talked about this drama and that's how I came to watch this even though Chinese dramas especially historical ones aren't my thing. I just wanted to be a little part of it. I'm feeling guilty for forcing myself to watch this like I'm just wasting my time at this point but at the same time it's hard to let go. I guess I'll give it a try until I reach ep 20. If I still don't like it, I'll drop it with a broken heart :(

Thank you for explaining it to me. One thing I want to add is that this platform is made for viewers to share their opinions. Just as people can share how much a drama is worth the hype, others can also share the opposite. So there definitely is a point there. After all, that’s what this platform is for.

finally got the time and courage to watch this. I've been putting it off for years because of the big amount of eps and it being a bromance. Bromance can be frustrating sometimes. I hope to have a good time and not regret watching it lmao
