This is very KinnPorshe I don't know how I feel about that. Heir and bodyguard. Recruitment after rescuing on an attack. Opposite personality. The same balcony and room. Getting suit fitted. Getting saved from an assault. Even the exact same bathroom where one of them is under influence.
Edit: Read again if you gonna comment I said the two have the same 'vibe'. Your teacher is disappointed with your comprehension skill.
I noticed from the very first trailer that it seemed a bit too spicy for me. I wasn't really in the mood for it—maybe…
Forget about the original novel it is not as good as the show. Go for the fan-fic on AO3 called "Between the sheets" which does everything right on top of the show.
Post KP they did MS, a show abt Thai cultur, and you know it was out of passion bc Apo always talk abt Thai cultur…
Sorry for commenting long after. BOC should really read this thread imo.
I think you are right that BOC has gone actor-focused instead of character-focused.
I remember falling in love with Porsche fast when I first watched KP. Not even because of the KP chemistry. Porsche's personality was complete from the beginning you know he is attractive, fun, principled, family-oriented, rebellious and free. And for that you would feel bad for him for the straggle he has to go through, which makes him a very lovable character. He feels real and alive in the very fictional KP world.
BOC is being ambitious with Shine going political, dark and realistic that it is totally opposite to KP. I respect that they are trying out a new genre. Shine turns out to be a really good production, great cinematography, music, costume, sets, acting, story and all. They have great actors. The series showcase that they can act very well. But I didn't fall in love with the characters like I do in KP. Imo the characters lack complexity in the writings and therefore lack charm. Shine world is very real in contrary that makes the characters feel flat and fictional. It is not trying to be a BL series at all when they don't get you to like the characters. This is not how the BL genre works if you want to be successful.
I don't think BOC is going/trying to make another great hit like KP. They are becoming an artsy selective production company.
