Uh... Yi Tian character is really boring right now tbh with you. Xiao Yu is carrying all the scenes and he's the…
To be fair, Xiao Yuer doesn't have character development yet, he's fun from the beginning. I'm watching it for the development of their brotherhood. As for Hua Wuque, he does have development to some extent, as the more he experiences things outside, the less naive he becomes in deceit, and in the novel, he reaches the same level of intelligence as Xiao Yuer. Majority of the people following this drama in china are watching it for HYT since he has the bigger fanbase. I guess they enjoy his fighting scenes, how he's all powerful lol. I wish CZY can gain more fans from this.
JGY's reaction when he realizes that he got played by NHS is priceless. When you think about it, NHS is truly the winner of them all, even more capable than JGY himself due to the fact that he got EVERYONE involved to further his own goal. The fact that he got LXC to do the dirty work for him and make him feel guilty for being manipulated into murdering JGY is terrifying to say the least. If he was a good guy, he'd be one of the most remarkable and successful people ever, but if he was a true villain like JGY, he'd be beyond frightening and would bring chaos to the cultivation world.
Very true. Actually, saying the romance/BL element is the most important thing of the novel is insulting to the…
Very well said and couldn’t have done it better myself! It bothers me when people treat MDZS as mainly bl and are following this and its adaptations only for the sake of seeing gay romance (and also finding it boring when the focus isn’t on wangxian), when this novel encompasses so much more beyond! I really enjoy the major themes introduced, the character study with Jiang Cheng and WWX, so many characters are flawed and are neither in the right or wrong, there is basically so much you can analyze and I can even stress that no character is useless or insignificant because every single character, even the minor ones, has their own story. The xianxia element is top notch, marking peak writing of the genre. THIS is why so many people praise this novel, including straight men who read it. It is no surprise that MXTX won awards for this novel. I really hope people can recognize and appreciate this work and its adaptation not only for the romance.
I think it’s important for ppl to know that CQL/MDZS is more than just the bl romance. The reason why MDZS has become so critically acclaimed is because it’s very distinct and go beyond your usual bl novels. It has xianxia elements with strong and well-developed themes like found family, grey morality with major character studies.
When WWX gets resurrected into Mo Xuanyu’s body, does that mean he now has a golden core? Since it is in MXY’s body and MXY is a cultivator, hence he naturally has his own golden core. Or does it get destroyed when MXY commits suicide before giving his body to WWX ?
Watched the first 8 eps, good start. Ju Jingyi is good so far, so are the rest of the cast, not sure about Yu Menglong as the ML though. I have to say...Xiao Qing and the monk have good chemistry but I know she’ll have another love interest, which is kind of a shame cuz I like them together.
I’ll be looking forward to this. Big fan of Li Yitong, and Tang Dynasty is my favorite, esp when it’s set during the reign of the incomparable Li Shimin.
I’m laughing at how it’s Chen Xingxu’s (LCY) birthday today, and tomorrow is Wei Qianxiang’s (GJ), which are around April Fool’s and fits their characters so well
Rumors (currently trending on Weibo) that the leads are filming more scenes (perhaps alternate endings?) and that Taiwan broadcasting bought the rights and has the complete episodes (55 instead of 52), meaning we’ll probably see the deleted scenes.
I am going to miss this drama so much. I was originally hesistant because I wasn’t impressed with the cast amongst other things, but I’m so glad I gave it a go and I was proven wrong. This drama as a whole gave me all types of feels and left such an impact on me, which is really telling considering the unknown male and female leads (they did a fantastic job, chemistry was great too). I would place it with the likes of the acclaimed and hit dramas like Ashes of Love, Story of Yanxi Palace, Eternal Love, BBJX, etc. And I hope more people around the world can recognize it (put it on Netflix too!) since it is well deserved.
I'm really curious... does hao lan ever actually love/like or have any feelings for yi ren? In ep 42 when they…
Chinese history student here. Ok, that story has two versions. The one where the child was Lu Bu Wei’s came from pseudohistory aka false. They say that she was already pregnant (with Lu Buwei’s child) when they first met Yiren. Which is not possible because 1) she was still very much an active dancer at that time. 2) they also claim that her pregnancy period lasted for a full 12 months which is also not possible bc living conditions at that time were really bad and the child couldn’t be born, but let’s say it did, how could Yiren not have known? And if he did, he would never accept her to be his wife and make her his queen. Lu Bu Wei was intelligent but he was too intelligent to know that giving his then wife to Yiren when she was already pregnant was extremely dangerous. The child is def Yiren’s.
