short hair !!! short hair is better dammit... Tokyo Dogs was good
I really adored his hair in Tokyo Dogs! I'm so glad I'm not alone XD It looked great on him! I also liked it in Crows Zero (half long half shaved because it really fit the character so well) and the latter eps of Rich man Poor Woman

Gokusen was my second drama and Uchi stole my heart right from the get go! Now I'm watching Rich man Poor Woman and he still has it some 7 years later as the quirky but fascinating Hyuga Toru (as far as actors are concerned ^_~) Hanadan was the only one I didn't like so much personally. Yes I'm probably unique in that, but to me he's more the cool badass, somewhat eccentric and egocentric diamond in the rough character (Uchi, Genji from Crows Zero Iⅈ (which, will change your outlook forever if you have a Hanazawa Rui image of him) and the tough but adorable cop in Tokyo Dogs (another definite favourite)
Maybe he's not the 'prettiest' guy out there, he is definitely one of the coolest. The guy's got so much presence, I love the way he walks and talks. It's unique and very distinctive! There's just no way around this guy, and I sure as hell don't mind about that!

I watched my first jdrama 7 years ago. Stand Up! To my virgin eyes an exotic and absolutely crazy and over the top romcom that held slapstick grandeur.
It introduced me to Yamapi, Nino, Oguri Shun, Takashi Tsukamoto and Narimiya Hiroki (nowadays that would be unaffordable for the producer) I've stuck with them all this time. Following their dramas (though I never really got that much into the Jpop scene) I remember distinctively how ridiculous I felt watching it and at the same time, I loved it so, so much and realized that it was special. A kind of sentiment and humour, a lightness and heaviness that blended so well together, that I wouldn't find anywhere else. While no longer addicted, and past the age to enjoy too juvenile dramas, I still greatly enjoy watching them on occasion. Exactly because they bring me back to that feeling of joy, to cherish something you discovered and loved.
