Very amazing actress knowing she’s just new in the industry. She did a great job in all her dramas and she really did stand out in The Legend and Arsenal Military Academy..
She is whole a lot better than most known names, its amazing and Im just so proud of her!
Such a girl crush too everyone should take a look at ng/bts vids on youtube of any series she played. Also she is very creative and funny in Tik Tok. She is just so easy going and warm personality also cool xD I cant even stop countıng her good points ughh making me into a fangirl in thıs age...
a beautiful drama with beautiful love story ♥️ This will easily be one of the best fantasy c-dramas. The initial episodes set the stage and then a highly enjoyable love story with plenty of martial arts, politics, and side missions ensues.
Bai Lu is in her element here as a fierce but exceedingly lovable leading lady and her counterpart, Xu Kai, is the perfect foil for her character. Bai Lu entirely stole the show in her performance as the general in Untouchable Lovers which was an enjoyable but highly faulty story.
I am so grateful that she was perfectly cast for Legends, which has a strong storyline.
Wonderful Drama!!Xie Xiang becomes a convincing male. She fights, shoots, and not one to sit around and wait for…
A round of applause to the cinematography, costumes/wardrobe/styling, OSTs, props, location, screenplay, and actors.
Since the drama is set in the early 1900s, I think it’s beneficial for viewers to understand the historical events that occurred before, during, and after this period. However, it’s not absolutely necessary in order to enjoy the drama for its entertainment value. But it does make the drama richer by understanding the historical context of the drama’s setting.
Xie Xiang’s decision to impersonate her brother to enter a military academy has cascading effects on those around her.
The first one effected is Gu Yanzhen. Gu Yanzhen fell deep in love first and pursued her ardently. If this drama didn’t advertise Gu Yanzhen as the ML, normal drama protocol/trope would have him as the 2nd ML: he fell in love first, he is the first to figure out FL is in disguise, he’s the handsome rich playboy with childish, lovable and playful nature, and a devil-may-care attitude.
While Shen Junshan has all the characteristics of a ML: stoic, smart, strong silent type, from a well-to-do family, and handsome. This drama does have heart fluttering moments (so many!): finger puppets when ML trying to apologize, FL and ML first dance in Beijing, ML’s petulant jealous moments, rooftop skating rink, ML blowing kisses in class and FL’s reaction, ML playing the piano in the academy’s courtyard not caring if anyone knows his love for FL/wanting everyone to know his love for FL, any time Gu Yanzhen winks at Xie Xiang. There is, of course, romance, but the story also delves into friendship, camaraderie, loyalty, and patriotism through the many trials, heartaches, dangerous missions, and political and military unrests faced by the cadets in this turbulent time.
The supporting characters are well developed with their own stories: Huang Song, Shen Tingbai, Qu Manting, Instructor Guo, Li Wenzhong, and a few others.
Wonderful Drama!! Xie Xiang becomes a convincing male. She fights, shoots, and not one to sit around and wait for help. The viewer gets to see her growth from a headstrong girl to a stronger warrior and respected by her military academy peers. She infiltrated a military base on her own to rescue her friend. When kidnapped, she doesn’t wait for rescue, but defeated her kidnappers and escaped on her own. I love that the writers didn’t make the ML her rescuer. Also, she’s gorgeous as a male (absolutely adore her haircut!) and as herself, a young woman.
Xie Xiang is one of the best strong and independent female characters in an Asian drama. She’s up there with Ming Lan (Story of Ming Lan), Ying Luo (Story of Yanxi Palace), and Haitang Duo Duo (Joy of Life). Unbelievably, 48 episodes seem short because it was so enjoyable to watch.
Beautiful production, lavish costumes, laudable cast, magnetic main couple, playful creative storyline, quantifiable stuff of romance, uproarious action adventure, subtle messages, light-hearted humor, zippy pacing.
The theme is that relationships require a king and queen, being the king is not easy, and relationships are best served when the queen can walk in the king's shoes for a time. Body switch shows are usually lots of fun and I found this to be unabashed entertainment and excellent romance. I did have to use the rewind button several times to catch the mystery of what was actually happening. The lyrics also give the clue: Not afraid of "till death do us part" but afraid that I won't meet you in my next life.
This is a funny romp through a historical romance PERSPECTIVE. In order to get full enjoyment of this cute romantic FANTASY, you need to watch all the epilogues.
HOW TO PREVENT CONFUSION: The epilogues are current modern day. Note that she says seductively in epilogue of the second episode, "YOUR MAJESTY, time for your shower." In episode three epilogue, note his name and what she does for a living. Also the epilogue of episode 14 makes reference to the drama.
Since I've been watching Asian dramas since 2002, I found King is Not Easy to be a merry chase from history to modern, and a lovely mindbender that treats dramas with ironic, cheeky comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed this storyline and was pleasantly entertained. Excellent romance which I added to my fan collections.
NOTE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE ENDING: King is Not Easy is a comic book based on a past life of the queen of the Wing clan and the king of a human kingdom. He was willing to do anything to be with the woman he loved forever. Dream is not a really accurate word but rather illusion magic because the dowager queen, the head eunuch and others did remember until they suddenly seemed to forget. So in order to be together, the king time travelled. Bai Lu is supposed to be the modern queen of the Wing clan but she has lost her memories due to illusion magic and it came out as inspiration for her comic book. The epilogue for episode 19 shows that all the epilogues are current modern day after the king has time traveled to be with her, then she turned the comic book into a script and it became a drama that they watched which was based on their history together. Altogether they had three body switches, one of which was in epilogue 19 and one in epilogue 20 for the final episode.
