it's on dramafren with the title claim what's mine romance tag is a bit of a stretch its just revenge for a daughter that has once again been comically abused in the past
"don't worry before you agree i won't do anything to you" => proceed to fall asleep together fully clothed => wake up still cuddling and are comfortable with each other
even while fully clothed, consent is the hottest thing a drama can show fr
it was fun and silly and the leads have good chemistry on screen together. the plot is entertaining and the side characters are also interesting and have their own stuff going on that adds variables to the predetermined plot of the novel and they have the leads adapt in real time to the changes.
there's no abuse or violence or toxicity it is a romcom after all. i've never watched a transmigration drama with multiple transmigrators (not really a spoiler it's revealed in the first few minutes). but this was actually good and enjoyable, and now i get why people like this setup for a transmigration story.
i'd give it a solid 7/10 and something id rewatch on a rainy day or if i want to see a silly duo take on unexpected challenges and accidentally fall in love. id recommend to anyone who enjoyed please come into my arms and wants to watch the chemistry this cp has. it's not as good in my opinion but thats just because the script has less sexual tension and kisses by virtue of it being a romcom where the characters don't take themselves too seriously. like the leads are rolling their eyes at stupid outdated ancient behaviors/social protocols, and they view the emperor/concubine dynamic in ancient days as depressingly short of anything close to the most basic, entry level standards of modern gender equality values. and they giggle to themselves about their over dramatic acting they have to perform for the non-transmigrators. they do have their moments of tension though where they're acting like an emperor excessively doting on a dramatic and entitled concubine, but then when their audience leaves, they're in an awkward position or they have a moment of "...oh." before disentangling.
i hope this cp pairs up more in the future because they really do click on screen. whether it's comedic friendship duo to lovers or enemies to lovers, he cong rui and liu nian have great chemistry and play off one another's vibes really well in scenes. liu nian is also super underrated. she deserves more roles bc she's talented and engaging to watch. her performances haven't disappointed or bored me yet.
