Yeah Netflix has some really good ones but also so much subpar stuff. Especially lately. And I hate their subtitles, they tend to remove the nuances of the dialogue & sometimes it can change an entire scene. I understand just enough Korean that I can tell when the dialogue is completely dry and missing parts but not enough to go without subs entirely.

I both agree and disagree. Netflix has a huge amount of subscribers s you can't really generalize them and lump them in. Lots of them - including Westerners, like myself - love foreign language media and WANT to understand everything we can about it. I think the primary issue is Netflix *assuming* their subscribers don't care. Plus Netflix is all about churning out as much TV as possible. I've used the service since it was a DVD-only mail service and they just do not care about quality anymore. They just want people to binge as fast as possible. They clearly don't care about finding quality dub actors or putting careful effort into culturally-accurate subs. I just don't think it's fair to put it all on Netflix subscribers considering you've got quite a few right here complaining about this issue and wishing Netflix would do something different.

no but for real, they leave out so much important information. i also greatly prefer how viki subs use words like oppa, noona, sunbae, etc. Netflix always just uses their names or "Ms (insert name)", and that alone can totally change how a viewer interprets a conversation or even an entire relationship. it's so frustrating.

Thank you for sharing this info. I know some people can separate art from artist & that's their choice, but personally I cannot especially with a romantic role. I'm gonna have to skip this one. Glad I found out beforehand!

How much of a role does LGBTQ issues play in it? I've been kind of on the fence with this drama but I'm queer and if it has any sort of queer storyline I would def be interested! I don't mind mild spoilers.

That's a good decision because the cliffhanger with this first part is on another level. I already decided when S2 comes out I'm waiting till it finishes so I can binge it, which is what I just did with S1. Every damn episode is so good that waiting a week between would be torture! If you hate cliffhangers and have the patience then I think you're making the right choice lol.
