it's a Japanese movie based on a manga, but it's set in ancient China, during the warring states period. So the cast are Japanese and speak Japanese, but they are portraying Chinese characters. Kinda like a movie like "Troy" or "300" where there's English speaking actors (American, British, Australian, etc) playing Greek characters who should probably be speaking Greek. But because it's an American film for a western audience, they're speaking English.

If you read my above comment you'll see I said it's available on viki.com or Youku's official YouTube channel. You will have to pay membership for either in order to watch it. Viki is the cheaper option.

If you finish watching at episode 36, it is a bad ending. There is an extra episode available that shows a happy ending. This was done to get around censorship. The extra episode is currently available on Youku's youtube channel, but since it's been removed from platforms in China, I can't guarantee it'll be there even five minutes from now. Your best bet is to pay for Viki premium to watch it, as I think that's the cheapest option. Sadly the extra episode isn't on Netflix.

Chances are this will simply never get released now. I'm so upset for him and everyone who worked so hard on the show and all his other projects as well...
