It is a good, coherent, well-acted, entertaining series... yes nothing extraordinary, but a simple detective drama set in a world of fengshui and esoteric folklore. Some mentions plot holes but i don't remember any. Another said the characters act like idiots or insane... ?????... I think these labels fit the reviewer more than this series. There really aren't any major problems with this series. If you like good old detective dramas without romance, like me, then this is a good recommendation.

Beautiful movie, well-acted and stunning scenery. As a fan of fluff and fun BL in general, i wanted to skip this one but this turned out less depressing than i thought...simply because MC Fei's unhappiness and woes are primarily of his own doing. This is more a character study than a narrative about moneyboys. I think the point of the movie is not the fact that he is a gay prostitute, because his character can easily be replaced with a female without much changes. I think the emphasis is more on his character portrayal, about how he is unable to find happiness wherever he is, whoever he is with and whatever he does. He is quite a difficult character to like - indecisive, selfish, conflicted, repressed and a sad tendency to wallow in his unhappiness. I think i have only seen him smiling and happy once during the whole movie and that's why the movie ended on this flashback. The movie explores his character very well, without actually giving a definite answer to his chronic depression or his life's decisions. One can find answers to his unhappiness peppered throughout the movie but MC does not share his feelings much, so no one knows in the end.

Ahhhh, rewatched this again and i still love this one so much. I don't know if it's because of the awesome actors or the intense and passionate story but this is clearly my favourite among the HIStory series and one of my fav BL short. I kinda find all the negative comments quite funny and futile... sexual assault? attempted rape? toxic relationship?... lolololol

Thanks to this short movie, I learned about the story of the real HanZiGao and Chen ZiHua. Their story is probably the best BL story from ancient china. It's beautiful how they remained together till the end. I hope one day they will make another movie based on this story. The movie is clearly low budget and rushed but somehow, it still managed to convey so much feelings and fluff.

Chinese fantasy BL, low budget but with good acting, and story, although story does seem rushed. If the story did not make any sense, then read RandomUsagi's comment below as he/she explained it well. I wished some scenes were more developed and longer, as i wanted more fluff between the 2 male protags. Loved the ending :)

An pretty good critique of democracy, justice and public trials, without boring court procedural drama or nonsense sentimentality or romance. Great acting and character complexity. The plot was mostly pretty tight but inevitably has some contrived plot parts which is kinda expected for such genre. I wanted more bromance though. The bromance is pretty weak since the 2 male leads were mostly at odds throughout the series, disagreeing on pretty much everything. Plus GaOn only has eyes for the policewoman, and YoHan is only focused on his niece and his revenge, so any ambiguity between the 2 is non-existent, except maybe in the last 2 eps.

I can't wait to see this one! Wang Duo, Song Wei Lan and Jing Bo Ran all together in one series... woahhhhh.... is this the league of beautiful gentlemen? hehehehe
