eh, there are a few "manhwa" to kdrama/movie adaptations. ones like Weak Hero, Hellbound, Strangers From Hell,…
Omg I really hope they confirm the Bastard adaptation soon! Park Jihoon has been in talks to star as the MC in it for MONTHS but we still have nothing. He's one of my fav actors and Bastard is one of my fav webtoons, so this would be amazing if confirmed soon because like you said, it would make for an amazing adaptation

true beauty, gangnam beauty and business proposal are romcom manhwas without any murder plots Also it may be that romcoms are boring because the entire plot literally revolves around romance. Even i personally cannot stand watching something like that. I need a good balance of other genres most of the time. So that might be the case for you as well, that it's not the genre that is "bad", just not your taste
You should watch shows like Love All Play and At A Distance Spring Is Green if you haven't already. They have romance in it but it's not the cringy kind, since the main plot is slice-of-life!
This is the most depressing Korean drama I have ever seen.
damn, i was contemplating watching this after weak hero class 1 bc THAT is the most depressing show i have ever seen and it impacted me a lot, but now im not sure im ready for this one hahaha
I've actually always wanted Death Note to get a kdrama adaptation! Glad this article exists bc it's like my thoughts are finally being voiced lol. I can literally imagine the whole thing in my head: the cast, cinematography, tweaks to keep it fresh, the OST and everything else! The one advantage Korean live action has over the Japanese ones that have been done is the CGI. I'd love it if they keep the Shinigami human-looking like the grim reapers we see in shows like Goblin, Tomorrow etc. It would work perfectly in live-action and make it look more realistic, not at all cringe like most live actions are.
idk about the actor for Light, there's limited options since I would prefer sticking to someone young, but for L, Song Kang or Park Jihoon EASILYYY, especially the latter. L is a character totally up Jihoon's alley and he would SLAY IT big time!
