I agree about Japanese BLs. They're less gimmicky and they're aimed at really telling a story instead of just…
This is exactly the word that I was missing, gimmicky, showy and so often they are all about the cheap entertainment, like the Don't Say No, I find. But the world needs this all probably, so let it be.

I were in a situation or a mood like you before, but now I can value Thai dramas as they improved a lot in the…
There are definitely thai dramas that suit my taste and which I'm always happy to rewatch, like TharnType (for obvious reasons), but I must say that I kinda feel overwhelmed by the glitz and rococo splendor of many of them. They are more in style and scenography of the american "Dynasty", talking about "problems" of rich people living in their big houses and driving their expensive cars.... This is always something that puts me off, come on, are you guys there in Thailand really like this? Like...all of you? ...Plus, the actors are always suuper cute, perfectly dressed, clean and healthy and they probaby shit roses. Sorry for this but..you know what I mean.
Thai series that I appreciated were the Grey Rainbow, because it was more about real life problems, or The Effect, talking about this delicate matter that love can be and how easily you can irreversibly destroy it. I loved The Teacher and Student for its weirdness and I love Aam Anusorn's Present Perfect, a beautiful autobiographic story and Call It What You Want because it was about the problems of the thai BL industry.
I have not seen all of course, so I can't judge fully, I will check on the titles you have shared.
Japanese productions are so different, why would they have to improve? They are already great, like for example the genious Man Who Defies The Bl World, a comedy at the same time mocking and appreciating the BL world. Japan is not much into dramas but more into movies and they are always perfect and often very meaningful or just crazy, rooted deeply in manga and anime, and, something more: they do not have the sick fanservice that makes us loose our minds over the couples whether in real life they are together or not, which I find rather cruel, to both: fans and actors.
Well, anyway, let us see wht the PWL brings, I hope it will be good enough to make me change my mind...

8,5...hmmm..interesting. Maybe it is the fact that I am tired of thai BLs in general, I just didn't enjoy it at all. It looks kinda plastic to me. Just another production to earn money...
Well, ok, the BL industry wouldn't be called industry if it wasn't for money making, but I'd love to believe that the new drama is something else, and that there were new things I could learn, but unfortunately it is just another set to show a romance...
Sorry guys, don't hate me for that, I was disappointed.
Is it bcz I saw "My Beautiful Man" right before that one and my soul longed for a competely different atmosphere?
You all seem happy that "Paint With Love" isn't yet another high school story, get it, but I've been watching so much of LGBT cinema lately that "My Beautiful Man" felt like coming back to sweet innocent years while "Paint With Love" was like: eh, seriously??
There is one thing more: out of all asian BL cinema, the japanese BLs are the ones I value most: it is a completely different sensitivity, the psychological portraits of characters are deeper, it is more about overcoming internal obstacles on the way to love and acceptance, and usually it is much more than just a funny story in a new scenography.
Will I continue watching this one? Yeah, I will have a look, because I am the genre crazy lover. But no big expectations. Simply: I want something more than just beautiful men staring at each other..

On The Ultimate Masturbation Aug 24, 2021
If you love sweet thai BL stories you are going to be shocked. This movie speaks to attention of viewers who have a bit of idea about the genre and its history. BL started in Japan, Japan also "invented" pinku movies, japanese sensitivity is so different to ours, westerners'.... I have seen japanese gay porn movies and erotic ones, I have seen around 1/3 of all japanese gay/LGBT films. After you watch it all, your perception changes radically to the point that...you can take things easy and fully enjoy "The Ultimate Masturbation". And laugh your ass off.
This one is a pastiche and parody at moments. The narration is funny bcz it is deadly serious, and you know it from the very first time when you hear: Fap! Fap! Fap! Kellog! Anti Kellogg! Syn-Kellogg! Come on guys, it is pure comedy !
Somebody had this hilarious idea to tell us a story about a mountain training camp, where you normally would improve your skills in fishing or taking pics, or choose anything you want, but here you train masturbation technics instead! Hahaha... With a devoted teacher and very eager and keen students.
I give this movie 8.5.
I will rewatch it again and again. :)

Title Light
Max Liu is not playing in this movie. It is Tao-Hsuan Liu. Looks like Gagaoolala made a mistake..
