Ratings are only fascinating to discuss. Anyone who lives outside Japan or South Korea for that matter cannot take rating very seriously since we have no effect on the outcome whatsoever. I think it would even color or influence your choice of K-drama or J-drama to watch since you will be persuaded to look at the high raters and perhaps ignore dramas that rated low.
We also need to understand that TV networks and talent agencies and their advertisers affect what sort of drama and story and cast we will see. It's big business after all. We have the "ideals" but then reality will set in.
Watching and loving and becoming "obsessed" with certain drama is a matter of personal taste and writers can only be commended for sharing their thoughts and should try to recommend and not force their opinions on others. With that said, articles that provide insights on ratings should be taken with a grain of salt - they are also a good way to see what others are talking about or what the locals like, but at the end of the day, you simply cannot rely on ratings. It's your choice what you will like and love.
Great! Another high-profile drama with Hikari Mitsushima, a very good reason to watch or even to just put on a watchlist. Thank you Japan for not casting Emi Takei or Ayame Gouriki in this drama!

ah sorry my bad! :) Well, even without the anime section, the drama and movie sections are already very diverse.

Will post more as I get to finish some movies very soon. So many great movies and dramas, and the recommendations from the members are great. :)
