Can someone please spoil what happens to Xue Shu and the dowager empress at the end? I know she's going to be successful in becoming the Emporer's concubine, but does she get to suffer in the cold palace or smt at least?

Many dramas, especially costume ones, dub the entire thing later on in post-production, removing the need for a sound department all together. In modern dramas though, they often record the audio as it is being delivered. Often times, however, the original lines that were spoken may not have been approved during review or in post-production they choose to change what's being said. So instead of re-shooting the scene they just over dub those few words that weren't approved later on. So what you are most likely hearing is audio as it was being acted, and then a cut to the dub being spoken directly into a mic, and then back to drama audio.

You can just hop into it, but it will probably be slightly confusing at first. Though, a big reason for that is so when you finish the show and re watch the first episodes, you’ll feel a big “OMG I CANT BELIEVE I DIDNT GET THIS” feeling lol, at least in my experience. My biggest tip is to watch the first couple of episodes on YouTube and read the comments after, bc there are ppl in the comments section that explain things. But, it isn’t so confusing if you can get passed the first 1-2 episodes, and yes the Untamed is based off of the book, Mo Dao Zu Shi, they are very similar, but the Untamed made a few changes bc of censorship. Heaven Official’s Blessing and Scum Villian are both books from the same author as the Untamed with their own adaptations, but content wise they are not related, besides all being in the BL genre.

For a modern drama with Dilraba, I recommend You are My Glory, definitely her best modern drama tbh, and its a super romantic watch without annoying plot lines like love triangles. For Wuxia/Xianxia, the Long Ballad is fantastic and she's the lead role, but Eternal Love/Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms is arguably her most well known work, since its like the most viewed drama in China lol, but she plays more of a support role, though she does star in it's sequel. In general though, my top Wuxia/Xianxia drama rec is by far the Untamed! One of the best shows of all time honestly.
