I think it is because of the cut version. I guess the original uncut version make the whole drama story make more sense.

I watched the cut scenes on Youku. Me too, want to watch the whole uncut version. The cut version, make the drama a bit confusing.

It is not really an 'open ending'. The ending is happy ending but a bit 'redundant', just to make us remember the drama longer.
