The short special clip after ep 26 is indeed an open ending. After Man'er went back to her world she is shocked that Shen Yi/ Shen Nuo is not an NPC and is actually living in the modern world like her.. then it ends. For me it's a happy open ending

Honestly what I hate the most in romance genre is the misunderstanding trope hahaha. I am actually not a romance genre watcher, I am more like wuxia/martial arts/brotherhood genre. But I will watch anything if I like it no matter what genre it is! But I can say, I can't stand misunderstanding rather than the villain do villainous acts hahahaha
