Oh, I get you. Yeah, I agree they should be comfortable taking on a role if it requires certain things. I would like the actors' kisses to be more passionate too, since that's one of the reasons I watch, to escape, and it does take you out of the story when it's lacking.

It's a different culture. You can't dictate how people do things in their country. If you don't like it or it makes you upset, you don't have to watch. I'm sure Japanese people are fine with it, which was who it was intended for, anyways. But I did enjoy and revisit the full on make-out scenes between the hot guys in The Novelist and The End of the World With You, even if it was instructed and choreographed by the director. The kissing scenes were a bit mechanical and lacked nuance.
I liked it more after a rewatch. For some reason, I thought Haruka was more arrogant and cold, but he was actually pretty sweet. I watched this for Yamapi.
I got into Korean drama after discovering BTS and Kpop during the pandemic in 2020. And for a while, I held this superiority of Korea over Japan, especially in entertainment. I would not give any attention or was completely disinterested in the little Japanese entertainment I had access to or was recommended to me in YouTube and Netflix. But after I watched Squid Game, Alice In Borderland came up next in the queue and since I binged the show in one day and really enjoyed it, I thought I should give this one a try. That changed my perspective on Japan. Especially since I was watching Korean shows and never seemed to finish or quit it right away, except a few. I definitely have turned off Japanese dramas and movies after 10-15 minutes, even an hour, when I wasn't feeling it anymore, but that has happened less than with Korean entertainment, which I feel lags. I also watched Kento Yamazaki and Keita Machida programs because I found them hot in Alice, I've never done that with a Korean actor. Although I did feel like everyone was unusually attractive in Korean dramas, I also felt the look was artificial. I appreciate the naturalness of Japanese actors, also many of the male actors have tans, and look so good with them. Japanese actresses are beautiful as well. I have found myself consuming less and less Korean entertainment and only want to view Japanese, so I flipped my superiority stance.
One of the first BLs that I watched back in fall 2022. I was intrigued and expected more to be this intense. Boy, was I wrong. I've re-watched the make-out scenes more than a few times. I had to do it, since both men are so hot and had such great chemistry.

I agree there is better kissing in those two shows, but usually the intimate scenes are lacking. I also see that case in Korean shows, although I prefer and have committed to only watching Japanese BL and really drama series and movies in general, because I enjoy them more. I don't watch entertainment from other Asian countries, so I can't compare and, if the similar culture is a factor in this. But I also don't agree with Suzuki being a better actor than Honda. I think Honda did very well in the show, and I appreciated his subtle acting.
The show didn't end as I hoped or expected, I wish the couple could've resolved their issues together, rather than one of them having an epiphany. I still appreciate the show so much. I loved the first five episodes (especially the tension/conflict and love scene in ep 5), and was pleased with the happy ending. The cast was great.

I do think both are hesitant to kiss, maybe because it's same sex. I've never seen any actor really engage and be passionate in the kissing scenes in Japanese entertainment like Suzuki, I was intrigued. But I felt Honda more just let his lips touch, or press against and then pull away with Suzuki, but I don't only see just pressing but actually a bit of movement with his kisses with Yuki, and Yuki reciprocates. i think he's putting more effort into it with this series, and Yuki is letting him lead and show what's okay.
I hope Misaki can get some action too, since it would be unfair if only the men were involved. She seemed to want to be intimate with her husband, which he doesn't want, and yet she doesn't seem too keen to leave him. I would prefer her leave the situation, but if not, I hope she will be receptive to Shuhei. I want the situation to work out for all of them, although I really only like Shuhei, despite him leaving/hurting his girlfriend.
I do hope Misaki can get some action too and it's not just between the men, which would be an unfair situation. She seemed to want to be intimate with her husband, who she loves and doesn't want to leave, maybe she'll be more receptive to Shuhei. I would prefer her to leave and find someone better, but she seems to be against it. I want this to work out for everyone, although I only really like Shuhei.
Well, we know Blondie knows how to do a male-on-male kiss because he did it in "Jack O Frost," so the problem…
I thought he was holding back for Honda, like he didn't want to make him uncomfortable, his age etc. The man and the woman were both engaging in the kiss. In Jack O Frost, Suzuki was the one to initiate kisses and Honda mainly pulled back. I think he does better in this series. He presses his lips more with Yuki than he did with Suzuki and maybe that's just because he's more experienced and comfortable now with kissing scenes. But the kisses still are a lot to be desired for people who are supposedly really into each other. The weak, tedious kisses are commonplace in Japanese entertainment that I've watched anyways, so it's par for the course.
I regret not giving this a chance earlier. I read the synopsis, and for some reason thought the age gap was larger and didn't want to watch because of that. Also looked at the actors and wasn't intrigued. Wow, was I wrong about the eye candy of the leads, especially Shin, who made me want to smile when he did. Akira was incredibly funny and relatable to me as well, loved his character. This is definitely one of my favorite BLs, which is limited since I usually only watch them from Japan. I need to give Korea another try with their releases from early/first half 2023, since I've heard good things.
When I saw this was coming out, I wasn't expecting much or too excited, but so far it's enjoyable. The characters are sweet and subtle, except the kid of course, who is wonderful. Usually I like my BLs to have some tension and conflict between the two, I wonder if this will too, want to see how it plays out.
I think the focus of this wasn't on the romance of the leads as much as making it feel more like a soft take on…
Okay, I only watched the first few episodes, at most 3. I want to give it another try, but the characters weren't that appealing in personality. When I don't like something in a series or movie, I give up pretty easily. Maybe when the next season comes out, I will pick it back up.
I appreciated how good looking the leads were, but I was bored and irritated by the story. Maybe I should give…
I kept looking at the time, even though the episodes were short. Yeah, didn't care for either of their characters or personalities. Just not my kind of story. Hope Japan can keep coming with the great stories in 2023.
