Wow, it’s only been 7 days and there are already over 125k comments.
The comments had already surpassed 100,000 before the series even aired.

I’d say the success of Pursuit of Jade makes them focus on Zhang Ling He at the moment
I think so too. MDL chooses an actor who is popular both in China and abroad and publishes articles about them for a while. This is both good and bad (subjectively). I would like to read more articles about Chinese actors in general, rather than them just focusing on writing about a single actor for a short time just because one of their dramas became a hit.

MDL works like a ZLH fan group. Articles are constantly about him. They barely ever publish pieces on the Chinese entertainment industry. Most of the time, they write about K-dramas. So what has changed now? The same thing happened to Dylan Wang too (this is just a suggestion). But in the article, only one person’s name is mentioned.

Speak for yourself. Beautiful faces and exquisite costumes only enhance a good script.
It’s your mistake if you misunderstood; I’m sorry, but I don’t think I used the wrong word here. The best thing is not to take it personally and to be more conceptual. Also, I don’t believe the mentioned rule will affect idol dramas. At most, they might make the makeup and costumes of historical dramas more realistic, or reduce the filming of idol-themed scenarios.

Speak for yourself. I am not saying that I don't want good scripts but I also am happy when the rolls are filled…
Our topic shifted from NRTA rules all the way to the PuJ series. Yet, what I originally meant was something different. Moreover, global fans sometimes place too much importance on fakeness. I’m glad to share the same perspective with Chinese users on such matters. Even they can clearly see the difference between fake and reality.

I’m tired of repeating the same thing. But you're persistent in your misunderstanding. When I said “we,” I meant those who share the same opinion as me. It doesn’t concern people who think differently. You should also speak on behalf of those who share your own view. Don’t take everything personally. 😅

Every month new series are produced, but most of the actors don’t fit the characters in the novels, which is why they are criticized. Writers only write novels. It’s the director who adapts them into series and should check the pros and cons. Also, you say “a drama is a drama.” That’s exactly the point. People want the series to reflect real life. That was the purpose of the article.

I don’t agree with some of the things you said. Setting a standard for historical dramas is a good thing. It doesn’t mean that these handsome actors will lose their jobs. For example, it’s wrong for an actor playing a general to wear makeup that makes his skin look baby-like, white, and flawless. And we often see this in historical dramas.

Such things need to be changed — makeup should be done according to the role, not based on fans’ requests. If it’s a xianxia drama, that’s fine. But for a general, flawless skin, or for girls from poor families to wear exaggerated costumes, is completely unrealistic.

You haven't even understood what I meant, lmao. When did I ever say anything to the contrary of the sentence, 'I also am happy when the roles are filled with characters that are pleasing to watch'? What I meant was that more importance should be placed on good acting and historical accuracy in ancient period dramas. Or are you reacting this way because you enjoy watching idol dramas? Everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that.
Furthermore, I wrote my comment at the top of the article in response to Xi Jinping’s cultural ideology and the NRTA’s statements. It has absolutely nothing to do with PuJ. In fact, I’m watching that series and constantly posting on X praising its plot (I've written about the first twenty episodes I watched). It's completely wrong of you to link my comment to PuJ without any basis. Maybe it wasn't intentional.

I spoke on behalf of myself and those who share my opinion. Lol, why are you taking it personally? Besides, I'm not saying I don't enjoy looking at beautiful faces. I'm trying to say that I don't like watching those who have beautiful faces but deliver mediocre acting. How did you even come to that conclusion?

If the Chinese entertainment industry listens to these suggestions, it would be wonderful. We are tired of seeing beautiful faces and exaggerated costumes everywhere. Because most of the time, the stories are mediocre or average. I completely agree with the sentence: “Costumes, makeup, and props should serve character development and story expression, align with the characters’ images, and collectively present a healthy spirit.” More importance should be given to scripts that reflect real life and to acting. The Chinese entertainment industry has strayed so far from its path that now underage actresses are playing the roles of married women or even leading roles.

This drama has no female lead but is a male centric drama. That's the simple truth. This drama is going to cost…
Once, there were rumors that one of my favorite actors would star in a drama with TJC. At that moment, I was really surprised. Because unlike other fan clubs, TJC’s fans weren’t constantly making sly remarks like “we don’t care about supporting roles.” On the contrary, they were very happy. Later, I realized the problem wasn’t with the fan clubs, but with the actor himself. A good actor also guides their fans in the right way.

I don’t want to repeat the same thing. Scroll up and read my comment again. You’re the type who’s used to belittling other actors at every opportunity. Nobody said Vanda would be the lead role. It’s you who keeps insisting she’ll only be a supporting role. Did anyone ask that? No. Did anyone ask if XZ would carry the drama? No. Then stop praising your idol at every chance.

Sure, everyone knows that. Constantly implying that someone is just a supporting character while taking every opportunity to praise your idol isn't 'just telling the truth.' It’s diminishing someone’s role just to find an opening to hype up another. You can explain a person's role without making comparisons. Also, these words aren't just for the XZ fandom; fans of many popular actors do the same. It’s as if acknowledging someone else as a lead actor would somehow be an insult to their own idol.

That’s why I can’t watch some actors and actresses. They play the same type over and over and their fans think…
Chen Du Ling has played female villain roles many times. In fact, in my region, many viewers are biased against her because of those roles. I used to be one of them too, lol. But I started liking her later on (especially after realizing she has a completely different aura in real life 😅).
This is why some actors are hesitant to play villains. Or, once they play a bad character, they keep getting offers for similar roles—Yan An, for example. I’m not sure if this is because actors constantly choose the same types of dramas or if the industry keeps sending them similar scripts.

Joseph's character here is very similar to his character in the MLC series. I feel like he often plays similar roles. This also applies to other actors; once an actor becomes famous for a certain genre, they tend to receive script offers for that same genre over time.
Additionally, I really love Joseph's role. I always feel like he is underrated and only brought into series to carry the show. They don’t value him as much as he deserves. I hope he gets more screen time in the future episodes.
