i can't speak for other shows but for game of thrones, the rape scenes WERE criticized too, for other reasons than in thsi show tho, it was more about misogyny and the use of a woman getting raped as shock value, and other stuff. and you can discuss about a rape scene while aknowledging the dark aspect of a show. now i see people getting very defensive about this scene in this show, but some people are just saying "yes it's very messed up, the character does a lot of bad stuff he's a dark character" and acknowledging that this action is not ok and i think taht's the right way to go about it. you can just admit that's bad and that you don't endorse it but that's just part of the messiness of the character. but yes, that's not because you like this story that it mean you're ok with rape, i understand what you're saying. but i still think that it's ok to adress it

sorry but it's valid to be shocked by a character being ok with sending his men to rape a guy ? now i don't say that you can't still enjoy the show and acknowledge that the guy is messed up. why is it weird to be shocked by rape ? people will defend anything when it comes to bl like let people say that him doing that is shocking ! and there's a difference between The main guy from a Romance show doing something bad like that (and it probably not being adressed, but i can't say bc i haven't seen the rest of the show), and say a movie that let's you understand that this is a fucked up thing to do. as a french myself, i agree with except i’ll be a little less nice and say that to me he’s not always understandable…. i don’t think i would’ve been able to understand him without the subtitles for some sentences… but i won’t deny the work he’s done, and like i’m used ot it, this happens a lot in other tv shows (for example in interview with a vampire where the character was supposed to be totally french, there was a lot of flaws but i still enjoyed the show haha). regardless of that, i’m still interested in this show and that wont stop me from tuning for the next eps! (and kuddos for the actual french actors that are on the show)
