Title Goddess Bless You from Death
Frankly, it's already started to tire me out and bore me, so much so that I think I'll binge-watch the last few episodes at the end of January. However, the enthusiasm I originally had has literally sunk to the ground. But let's start with the main flaws: the trailer was very strategically crafted, and in fact it suggested a much more interesting story than it actually turned out to be. The investigation, besides being cloying and rushed, is decidedly implausible, as if a police officer could actually carry a witness around with them everywhere. The focus is heavily on superficial elements and details, and the pacing, for my taste, is shockingly slow. But let's get to the worst part: the love story is ridiculous. The guy who plays the character who sees ghosts is the worst actor I've ever seen in my life, and I watch tons of shows. He'd be better off pursuing politics, because he's absolutely not cut out for acting. He has the expressive power of a refrigerator, completely lacks psychological characterization, and always has a half-smile plastered on his face that annoys me like I don't know what. The other guy is vaguely smarter, but the two of them together (at least romantically speaking) are terrible. I think I'd be more moved by a kitten playing the piano. Sterile dialogue, no passion whatsoever, no strong emotion. Just corny, insipid mushy stuff. The other couple is so insignificant that I ended up skipping the parts about them. As for the guy who plays King, goodness, it's a goddamn shame they gave him such a banal and frivolous part. Besides being gorgeous, he's perhaps the best actor of all. The only thing I found genuinely interesting was the subplot between him and Singha—which, unfortunately, wasn't developed nearly as much as it should have been. They hint at a relationship, which must have had very deep connotations if it was capable of causing such trauma, but when they actually have to show anything related to it, they always come up with absurdly inane flashbacks, without ever delving into specifics. From a plot that could have had extremely significant implications for understanding the deepest nuances of the human soul, they've come up with a grotesque and bizarre narrative, turning perhaps the most interesting and inspiring character of all into a brainless, weak idiot with a personality torn between a desire for paternal acceptance and a desire for personal self-determination. The result? A complete disaster. A series that would have had enormous potential, but with different characters, a completely different emotional dynamic, and a darker, more mysterious atmosphere, lacking that touch of unnecessary romance.
