I'm only at Ep. 15 and I've just got tp say... this drama was kind of a waste. Hell, I'm no script-writer, but I know a shallowing plot when I see one. La El's reveal was at a good middle pace...but only now is So Ra trying to kill her? LOL. She killed off the mother for less, and quicker. Then there's the Chairman. We're really supposed to believe that after all his suffering, after his growing hatred for his family reached a snapping point... he just left them alone? And goes around pining for La El and asking for forgiveness? Ok, I guess. As for Lee Sang Yeob's role, it had so much more potential. He's supposed to be obsessed with La El and stricken with guilt over what happened to her family...and yet his contributions to her schemes are not admirable. The best scenes he had were with Han Pan Ro and his crazy sidekick, making them nervous and well-behaved. Other than that, his role in this drama is similar to a wallflower. It would be much more interesting if he went the darker route and did anything La El wanted, while battling internally with his consciousness of right and wrong. That would be quite the on-screen presence.
For the latter part of the series overall, a better approach would have been starting the trial and having all parties bat it out with the trial at the forefront of it. I can just imagine it now: Key Witnesses dying left and right, attorneys being paid off, media outrage, the political struggle as the Han Pan Ro rallies his supporters while his dissenters prepare to dethrone him...But no. The synopsis made it seem like that would be the case, and it should have been.
After the 'funeral' episode I began to get nervous that this series would go down a lackluster route. I was unfortunately right. But, since I've been here since the beginning out of curiosity, I might as well finish the drama that got me excited for Wednesdays and Thursdays.
This drama started off as a 10 and gradually worked itself to a predictable 7. For the rest who also feel annoyed at this ending...let's just wait for the actors' other projects. At least we can agree that the acting was superb from all parties involved.
This drama is good, I'm surprised that in 2019 it made little to no noise. It's one of the few series of Lee Junho which I have not watched yet, and it's far from a waste of time. The story is there, as well as other seasoned actors. Hmm. Maybe it wasn't promoted that well? I'm also glad that there is no romance. Some legal dramas act as if there must be a pairing somewhere for their to be peace in the force smh
Many people hate her acting. But due to her visuals and long-time in the music industry, her fandom will watch regardless. Meanwhile Junho has proven himself to be a successful idol/actor, with past projects, especially his most recent one. So some fear they're a bad pairing

SEO JI HOON!!!!!!!!!! Yes, back on screen! I hope he has time to shine. I loved him in Solomon's Perjury and Meow, the Secret Boy. I also watched his other roles but didn't enjoy them as much.

You"re one of the few people I saw saying that! And I agree. I love SYJ etc. (way back from her Knowing Bros days) but the 'explosive' scene with her mother-in-law seemed forced and exaggerated to me, and not in the good way. It was more caricature-ish than scene captivating. I truly believe she coukd have acted that scene better. But hey! Might be just us.
I don't know if I'm sadistic or just hate all So Ra's people by association but that vicious slap to the female bodyguard and Le El telling the other one to "Play the bodyguard at home" was so satisfying to me.
I get that they are also victims of abuse from So Ra, but I've seen how they treat others around her, and I found La El's attacks on them well-deserved.
