I wonder how the ML will be in the second chance love phase because as you rightly mentioned the" opaque and…
Agreed! Which speaks to how well the male actor has performed in this non-traditional (for a romance drama) role. Honestly, I hope the character doesn't change unbelievably drastically. I would like for the character to continue being flawed in certain ways (like obsessive surveillance) and retain some of his stoic personality. If anything, that would make sincere conversations between the lead all the more powerful. Considering this is a c-drama, I am bracing myself for the disappointment of seeing the character become unrecognizable in a few episodes.
At a high level this drama falls into the very common trope of cruel-man-warm-woman and hidden identity, but it has achieved the rare feat of weaving a somewhat realistic, and very engaging plot, that thus far doesn't reveal any holes. The ML is not cruel to FL due to a random misunderstanding; he is just driven by his greed. He is not being cruel in a typical fashion (physical abuse, cheating, etc. ). He is simply being cruel by playing with her emotions and ambitions to fulfill his own agenda which is well aligned with his character. And the FL's character is well-written too. She may not fit the typical "bubbly" warm woman stereotype but you feel the warmth through her acts of kindness and her yearning for love. So far the actors have been doing a great job as well! The frustratingly opaque and impersonal acting of the male lead coupled with the shockingly realistic display of emotions by the female lead is eliciting additional angst. Can't wait for the next episodes! Hoping that the rest of the drama doesn't disappoint.
