My expectations were low but the first episode was actually good. BONA's character, I can already guess, I will…
Yes he did, and yes, from the first episode, it seems that he is what you described as a "morally gray character", with, of course, all the justifications given to excuse is bad behaviours (happy ending for the trial, death of his mother, and probably more).
What kind of sageuk are we flooded with in recent times?
Exactly what I wrote, sageuk that mix everything (mainly rom-com, with heavy comedic and dramatic parts), but in a very unbalanced way, at least for me. And all with very similar settings, tropes and clichés. Some are better than others, and thank God there are still other sageuk with more serious and interesting stories, but since few years now it's mainly these mildly interesting sageuk, with few exceptions.
Well, unfortunately it's again the same kind of sageuk that we are flooded with since recent times... mixing everything, but very unbalanced, and for me, that really doesn't make it. I'd have prefer a totally comedic sageuk, it would have been different at least, instead of this constant change of registers during the episode (comedic, dramatic, comedic, romantic, dramatic, comedic, etc.). Also, I'm not a fan of the filming of some scenes, many shootings are really weird (too much drones probably). It's not bad at all though, it's nice to see Do Hwan in this refreshing role, he is flawless, and the acting is good overall. It's also interesting that it is centred on law. It will be a nice rom-com probably, but a very poor sageuk for me.
He mentioned his little brother at some point and then stopped all of the sudden, he also seems like he has a…
For me that's it, this is the obvious conclusion from what we saw in the first two episodes every time there was a reference to Jae Won's little brother. I don't understand why people just jumped on the conclusion that it will have a sad ending, with Ji Hyun drowning. We never know, the future will tell us. But people are too gloomy, be positive, come on. ^^
It's really just speculation from you. All the drowning references correspond to Jae Won's little brother, not Ji Hyung, for me. So there is nothing certain from what you pointed. But we will know when the next episodes are out. ;)
Noooooo I didn't know that... It's that one trope that I avoid the most, I can tolerate much but this thing is…
Yes, I'm sure it still worth it for Do Hwan. ;) He will show a good side of his talents with this role. His character seems interesting. Hopefully Bona's character cross-dressing is a minor part of the show and don't ruin the story. Otherwise I'll be so disappointed, especially because it's Do Hwan's comeback drama after his military service (I really wished his other drama aired first...).
Wouah, finally, not just few minutes that always feel too short but we got a proper, normal-like drama centred on a male romance. So refreshing and so nice !
Kim Gyu Vin has the charisma of a clamshell, I'm happy his ranking finally dropped. He isn't outstanding for his vocals or dance skills, just "average". He was in the Top10 for so long because of his looks it seems (even though I don't find him handsome so I don't get why he was so popular). But the fact that he got first place for the "En Garde” performance instead of Gun Wook still baffles me.
These two are so sweet and cute together. Lee Seung Gyu and Lee Jong Hyuk did a terrific job for these roles ! Perfect for the kisses and the pecks. I think episode 7 and the first part of episode 8 were a little bit messy, with unnecessary miscommunication, compared to the rest of the story, so it's not perfect for me, but stil a solid 9,5/10 for me. And I'm really look forward to future roles for both of them, because they look like really promising actors.
Wouah, it will be messy next week ! But it's inevitable after all. And it's a Korean romance drama. ^^ But considering he is very understanding and so in love with Woo Joo, I think Dong Jin will understand Woo Joo's motivations and actions, and forgive her in the end.
Why the mother is so mad? i mean is it the kids fault? i don't think so.
She is angry because she is sad for what happened to her children without knowing anything, that's quite a common reaction for some people, and especially for Koreans. And also probably because, as it was hinted in the last episodes, the house was divided in three parts for them, so they should not have been robbed by Hee Ja, who just scammed them and put their family in more misery after all she had already done in the past.
I guess, Ji Gu know that Dong Jin is Ha Jee's son, but he doesn't much about Ha Jee. Ji Gu said that he hadn't…
The character's name is Hee Ja. ;) And yes, that's it. He knows Dong Jin is her son, but he don't know that she was the former mistress and new wife of his late father.
I'm on episode 10, I just don't understand why the mom lives separately and now came back and is angry with the…
Everything was explained during the show. The mother left because she had a cancer and was being treated in the countryside. So when they were kicked out of the house they didn't want to tell her right away to not worry her (and probably because Woo Joo thought she could take the house back), but Hye Seong was supposed to inform their mother at some point, but didn't, so the mother discovered everything when she came back for Woo Woo's birthday. There is more but wait to watch episodes 11 and 12.
So so good ! The acting is top-notch. I really like all the cast. I'm a little bit worried with all Woo Joo's lies though. ^^ Nothing will change by waiting that it blows off. Very curious about how everything will be known in the end. Dong Jin is really a puppy character, but poor boy, what a terrible mother. The attraction is so intense between these two characters. I'm so looking forward to the last four episodes.
The story is a little bit messy, and these characters are seriously problematic, but it's objectively very good. It'd have deserved a full movie format to develop the relationships more I think. Kazu is a real jerk though. He is the one cheating on Shin when he starts to feel tired of their relationship but he is the one angry that Shin leave him when he asked for it himself. And then he throw a tantrum when he knows that Shin slept again with his ex to save his ass out from prison/police, because he couldn't control himself a bit up the other jerk Takashi. Shin is really a pathetic victim in this story. So yes, it's not a nice or good story, it's bad, but very well done, the acting is superb.
I'm glad the male lead will be someone else for this sageuk. Otherwise, it would have just been one more cheesy rom-com sageuk for sure. Now maybe there is some hope that this story will be a nice fantasy sageuk. Something that is very lacking.
