Well, if you're watching this kind of Korean dramas you should try to at least understand the Korean culture and Korean history. You may not like it, that's up to you, but your comment is quite disrespectful and just show you're clueless about how family and elders/younger people relationships work in Korea.

No, ratings are given by people depending on their tastes and feelings towards a movie or a TV series (most people rate based on emotions, not objective critical reasons), and the audience isn't objectively representative of all the population. That's totally different than the real cinematographic quality of a project and of the performances of the actors.
To take just one of your example, "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" is one of my 10 stars dramas, I have many reasons for liking this drama this much and gave it a 10 out of 10 here. However, his cinematographic value is objectively quite poor : just a basic office romance comedy with predictable twists. So ratings aren't automatically related to quality.
As for your last sentence, I totally disagree. I personally never choose to watch something based on reviews and ratings, so once again, don't generalize something that you think. It's your opinion, and I respect that, but think of the way you write your comments. That's not difficult to write "I think", "I feel", "I believe", etc. but it makes a great difference on how others understand your comments.

You don't like it, that's different. Don't write your comment like it's a fact or a general truth, because it's not. Lots of people have like these dramas. And ratings aren't a proof of quality either, it just indicate the popularity of a show, which is quite different. So please write your comments expressing your opinion and feelings, not like your are stating the truth.

I can't wait to see what cast will play this. And I really wonder how they will adapt it, regarding all the inner thoughts in the manhwa, as it is an important part of the development of the original story.

Well, it's still good, but I think it's taking a road I'm not fond of unfortunately. More and more romance moments (which could have been put off for this story I think), and too much "hard" comedy for my taste (I expected something more sad, even a little bit depressing, but in a good way). I like the core message of the drama and most of the acting, but I think the production will be too much like dramas these days that try to blend everyhting together (romance, comedy, serious social subjects, mystery, morals, etc.). I don't like that. :/

Fore sure, and that's interesting too for a character portrayal actually. Like I wrote, I saw it coming, but I expected something else, I was hoping they would do something different, at least the way I view it.

Well, unfortunately that's quite disappointing. Yes, we saw it coming, but I was still expecting something surprising and more original from it. Akira's delusions over himself are quite annoying at this point (they make him look like he finally understands his problems but in the end he keeps doing the same...). It would have been much better if he had finally overcome his incapacity to accept his feelings and talk about it. Yes, the bluntness of Shin's character is still good but it feels like a big waste at this point of the story. Even more when we see in the next episode preview that Akira is still at the point where he is struggling to speak to Sakuma sensei and they will maybe focus more on the side stories. I'm s-not sure what to think of it. Still 4 more episodes, which is great, but I have lost a little bit of my fondness for it I believe. I really think that it could have been much better with a brave Akira accepting to date Shin and showing their struggles at this point of the story rather than one more story looking like all the romances where the couple first resist for some "silly" reasons, to end together at the end of the drama.

That cast is gorgeous. Can't wait to watch the adaptation of this good manhwa.

That new English title sucks. "MonWedFriTuesThursSat" is much more original. I'll stick to the Korean title personally.

Yes, that's what I wrote. It's good but nothing extraordinary. When it reaches 20%, yes, it can be considered a hit. Getting focused on ratings doesn't really mean the same thing these days than years before. 10% of 1 million people and 10% of 10 thousand people is quite different.
Writing an article about that like it's extraordinary seems a little too much to me (just very biased actually, and I wrote that being a big Lee Jong Suk fan).

It's good, yes, but for MBC I believe it's not that special.
The ratings in Korea depends on several different factors actually. The channel (public TV or cable), the day, the time slot and for more analysis it's also interesting to compare nationwide and Seoul area as sometimes it might be quite different. Now that there are also platforms dramas it's different I think, and a lot of Korean watch dramas on their phones after it aired on TV. TV ratings these days aren't the same as 10 years ago and more when much more people where watching TV.
But generally, any drama on cable channel passing the 15% is considered very good (I would say popular instead of good personally because that's very two different things). However many dramas since 2010 in particular were very popular overseas when the Korean ratings never passed the symbolic 10%.

Of course anybody can feel different towards this drama, the characters and the stories told, but I believe anybody can also be touched by it as all the cast is doing a great job. I already wrote that but that's not a "fancy" drama, it's very simple, raw, full of real emotions. It's actually hard to watch some scenes because it's overwhelming. I hope all watchers will understand and more importantly really feel the healing effect of this drama.

Yes kind of. :) Though I'm more familiar with Korean culture, Japanese are similar for that in my experience and knowledge. Boys and girls tend to not mix that much (all boys or all girls schools are still quite usual there) and so physical contacts with friends of the same sex are quite normal and much more developed than what teenagers usually experience in western cultures I believe. For example, because of the public bathhouse (jjimjilbang in Korea and sento in Japan) culture being very developed, it's normal for men to shower fully naked together since a young age. Of course homosexual men will be very aware of others at some point in that situations, but because it's a cultural thing experienced since very young, there is not the same rapport to it than in western cultures.

It's all true I agree. And I would also add that even young Japanese men, homosexuals or not, are more "prude" when it comes to display affection towards someone they have feelings for, even though they have a lot going on in their minds and their bodies. ^^ Because physical display of affection is on the contrary more developed, in my experiences, between friends of the same sex, there is quite a big difference with romantic relationships.

Yes I agree too. But I think we will still have little gems like this one thanks to Japan because they are more open to "non-perfect" relationships and "weird" characters I believe. "Utsukushii Kare", for example, is quite popular (even though the ratings here aren't that good) despite many people not liking the weird relationship and reactions/thoughts of the main characters.
We will see how the story is developed in the next episodes though because I feel like it can either become very disappointing or really good at this point.

That's not my point. I never do generalisation. My syntax might have been wrong because I didn't criticised all the women BL audience, only the ones that fantasise young men relationships but can't accept seeing relationships out of their social norms or too "realistic" to appreciate a drama (like this one), so the ones that are offended/disgusted/etc by the age gap and adult/minor (so far actual non-)relationship in "Minato Shouji Coin Laundry".

Hum, I do understand your point but I think you are missing one big point too. They are Japanese. Even to these days Love and Sex are two big different things for most of them and they really have a "special" way to view and deal with these things in general. They don't have the same relationship to it than most western cultures so I think it's quite realistic even if it's tru that's a little bit frustrating.

You know that it's a fictional story and that most people are irrational and act based on emotions in real life too ? Obviously it's a drama that try to convey a message so if you're not interested by it and just want an emotionless and only logic based story you should watch something else...
