exactly! especially when the company puts so much emphasis on the trending thing by showing all the different countries it’s hit the charts, it makes no sense to block it completely for so many countries :(

This is my first geo blocked show (it's not available on iqiyi in my region either) so is there a way to watch this legally still? I know how to captain hook it but I'd like to avoid that and support the show if possible.

Okay but acting and story aside, why would you put Sing so early in the intro credits when you give his character close to no screen time until the last episode?! I know he was part of the big plot twist but doing it this way is such a dead giveaway that he is much more important than he seems, so by ep 4 I had already clocked him as the possible killer!

no but this is exactly how I feel! I haven't trusted an MDL rating in years because of the weirdly high ratings fans give these shows just because of their favorite actors are in it and I think anyone who is at least a little familiar with the bl industry knows that too. so I usually just check the comments (which haven't even been that negative btw, most people just seem disappointed that they wasted a good oppertunity) but seeing how the fanbase reacts here would make me for sure not want to engage with anything further. And also what happened to nuance? just because you see flaws in the media doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it. I'm all for "Don't like, don’t watch, don’t be an a-hole about it publicly" but this isn't social media it's literally the one place where you SHOULD voice these oppinions (as long as it's respectful ofc).

it's not a bad show it just... could have been a lot better i guess. idk, the wasted potential is making me sad but it's still an enjoyable watch nonetheless

I've seen the idea of Khaotung being put on a pedestal floating around for a while now and I don't know if maybe I'm missing something but I don't feel that at all? I'm still very new to Bl fandom's so forgive me if I say something stupid or obvious but I wonder if part of what you're saying might be more related to the dynamics they've played in recent shows and the fandom bubble you found.

I get what you mean with: the questions for First being very "speak about your partner" coded, but I do think that is something that grew over time and might be related to their roles.

Sand, Kant and now Tiger are all Simps in their own right and they seem to keep the dynamic of their characters during press tours/ filming / interviews etc. As you said, they play into that themselves a lot too, especially First who manages to lead any question, no matter how unrelated, back to Khao. And I think most of the fandom operates the same way, we see First being protective and smitten over Khaotung and hear Khaotung says he likes to tease First then the fans will play into that too.

Do I wish we get more backstory for Tiger? absolutely, but to say he is only there as decoration or as a simp to Lynx feels a little disrespectful to all the work First put into the character to make him come to live, no? We're only 2 episodes in but I do feel like both Tiger and Lynx are solid characters in their own right already. I mean as a fanfic author, I could see myself plonk them in an au and write them believably (Weird thing to say, I know, but that's how I test if characters in Bl are 3d enough or if I just like their vibes :') ).

Please don't take this as an attack, you are possibly the most coherent person I've seen on MDL with this take so I wanted to ask.

As much as I understand wanting to have this conversation because there are definitely pairings that I feel similar about (not FK but I understand the sentiment) I do think this is more of a reddit question than a MDL question. It just feels a little out of place and snarky in the comment section of a review website for their new show (probably not meant that way). off the top of my head, maybe try throwing it into the r/ Thai BL sub. , people are pretty chill there and generally open to these types of discussions!

thank you for this! I gave up after the first episode because it felt so disjointed, confusing and I just wasn't invested enough. But now I keep feeling bad for dropping the show because the premise seemed genuinely interesting, so I keep stalking their MDL page and hope it does well :') yours is the first comment I've seen that makes me think I should go back and watch it after it finishes... maybe with some different goggles this time and accept the confusion as a narrative choice instead

I'm not a WinnySatang fan either but I'm really enjoying the show so far. Like the other comment is saying, the story is nothing ground breaking but the visuals, and music are probably some of the best I've seen from gmm this year. If you like summer romance stories with a little bit of mystery I would definitely give it a go! It's certainly worth giving it a chance regardless of the main cp :)
