This was perfect. I love how they had Jin wooing Akin rather than them just falling into bed with each other,…
I think it’s his pride really that’s preventing him to connect with fans. He categorized himself as a serious actor and thinks that promoting himself through hype and social media is beneath him.
ok scientific question the amount of honey Jin ingested didn't it make him sick?
I’m worried more about the actor. Supposedly it took them 8 hours to finish filming the scene with a few showers in between. I can’t imagine how much honey he had in those 8 hours. I probably would’ve puked and fainted at the third hour lol
He doesn’t like being on live as mentioned and there was jin’s manager forcing him to sing on live. Plus he…
He probably has strong opinions about Jin going on lives. Akin after all doesn’t agree with how sigma promotes their actors. This is making me excited for the conflict and angst between them.
I think a number of you are still watching this through dakaichi lenses. Please pause and actually take in the show as presented and not as the anime and manga had shown it to be.
Can someone enlighten me why Akin suddenly got upset and left the live? And why Jin is distancing himself from…
He doesn’t like being on live as mentioned and there was jin’s manager forcing him to sing on live. Plus he was probably also anxious about what would happen that day as it was the 21st day and the unexpected live disturbed that.
My lasting impression of this film is that is rather homophobic. It was filmed in 2008 so probably Korean audiences…
Yup, this was a product of its time. Even western gay movies around that time love giving the gays an unhappy ending, killing them most of the time. The bury your gays trope was the most prevalent trope then.
This is three years old but I just wanna say that around the time The King and the Clown was released there was…
What does Chinese attitude on homosexuality have anything to do with The King and the Clown which is a korean production?
Also, there are a number of explicitly gay shows in cdramaland before it was banned in 2016. One of the most popular one is Addicted. It got too popular so it got banned and along with it all future explicitly gay shows got banned as well.
Lastly, look up your own country’s rules on homosexuality. Go and surprise yourself.
I truly left "Chains of Heart" with the impression that Boom was a beautiful face & body with no acting range…
Only the MC in Chains of Heart had a clear yet still poor writing. His boyfriend died so he’s sad and so he cries every ep. The rest of the characters were even more poorly written. I didn’t even notice the acting. The script was so bad, it overshadowed everything. I swear none of the cast and crew knew where that show was headed.
My only takeaway from that show was boom is pretty lmao
I didn’t even know this show was coming. Somehow missed all promos and news of this show. I just saw this appear on WeTV so I clicked. I had been disappointed with the shows I was looking forward to so while watching ep 1 I was waiting for it to bore me. I was so overly critical of ep 1 that I didn’t enjoy it fully but since it did not bore me so I watched ep 2. The second ep sold it for me! The second ep flew by fast and the 3rd ep felt like 5 minutes! Loving it so far and cross my fingers it doesn’t become boring.
In short it's a campy Vampire show so if you enjoy campiness you should continue otherwise no...those who are…
That’s the problem, I didn’t find the first ep campy. It was just flat. It was not exaggerated enough and the acting choices of the main leads were not overdone enough to be campy. I’m disappointed coz I’m missing out on two good looking dudes but no matter how pretty or how much i love the actor, I will not continue watching a boring show.
If you watch this with the same "filter" that they made us all use when we watched The Untamed... it is sooo much…
This is three years old but I just wanna say that around the time The King and the Clown was released there was no apparent ban of gay/queer shows in k-ent. At that time, there were a number of explicitly gay k-movies. There was even a movie starring two popular male k-actors where they had a full on sex scene and not one of those fade to black type of sex scene. I just forgot the name of the movie.
What I’m saying is that this particular movie is not a censored BL/gay show like The Untamed. The writer and director showed what they wanted all of us to see in the movie. They were not forced to change the story because of a ban like The Untamed.
Though if we say that the actions of the characters in the movie are ‘censored’ by the pervading norms and rules of that time period then yes you can watch this movie through the same ‘filter’ you watched The Untamed. At the very least, that’s one way to interpret and/or enjoy the show. I find that there is no right or wrong way to watch a movie.
Did this show get better after episode 1? I really like Gawin so I wanna give this a chance but ep 1 was so flat and uninteresting that it took me 5 hours to finish the ep. I watched and finished pit babe so I have no problem watching terrible shows that are so bad it starts being enjoyable. I just need to know if it gets better or it got so bad that it started becoming enjoyable.
Oh Yeah selling his own ass to a black flag was a better option than accepting help from his friends. And then…
Ming might have hurt Joe terribly but Joe is still Joe. Joe has never been one to accept free help from others. When he accepts favors, it’s usually to get a job. He has always demonstrated that he won’t accept money but would accept a job. Dude is an orphan who only has himself to rely on. That mentality is hard to break.
Now Ming is offering him a ‘job’ so Joe is gonna ‘work’ for the money instead of accepting charity. Is Joe being absolutely stupid? Yes. But some people would give up their dignity if they could keep their pride.
Joe is being stupid but his character is consistent lol
I'm doing the second try on this one, I watched 2 first episodes. Even at the second try I still can't understand…
Most can see how toxic the characters and their relationships are. A lot of us just appreciate this kind of story. We love the drama and the mess. Plus the acting and the overall production is good. Though I get that this kind of show isn’t for everyone.
Also, there are a number of explicitly gay shows in cdramaland before it was banned in 2016. One of the most popular one is Addicted. It got too popular so it got banned and along with it all future explicitly gay shows got banned as well.
