he was baptized at 15, spent ten whole years trying to learn and become a priest, suffered so much loss and he was executed when he was just 25 years old...such a short and tragic life...truly an example of those who shine the brightest, they burn the fastest
You forgot that it was in ancient times. What rights do women have back then? Even married women, for that matter,…
if they are keeping her detached because she doesn't fully understand or accept what's happening as real it would actually be really cool because the story isn't actually just a time travel but transmigration as well seeing that she is in the body of boonta without the initial host's memories. nithra and boonta's lives are so vastly different after all so it could be that she separates the two unconsciously.
tbh both the plot and the character have great potential so i hope they actually dive deep into it. the comparison between her initial aloofness and later on painful understanding of everything that is happening to her would be amazing to watch if it's done right. like an entire episode of when she "wakes up" and realises in panic that that is indeed her life now. that she is now boonta and could never be nithra again(as far as she knows) and through that she gets a chance to rediscover herself and truly see the people around her, their suffering and their lives in general. all that emotional and existential crisis. i don't know if the writers will deliver that but i'm hoping they do.
it will all come down to the writing. it has such good potential so i hope they actually do a good job with it. and i agree even if they decide to just keep everything lighthearted then as you wrote those elements are indeed what will keep the whole drama afloat.

if i may join in the conversation about two points: 1. in my opinion, the term"mouthpiece of modern ideas" is quite accurate but for different reasons. she is a modern person. and one that had a pretty good life. i doubt she had any serious issues while she was growing up so of course there is no real pain behind what she tries to say and express, thus it sounds unconvincing. her upbrining and her entire world was based on very different values. that doesn't disappear overnight. it would be more weird if she knew how to blend in from the get to go in my opinion as people react based on what they know and have experienced after all.
2. as for the writing, sure nithra seems to randomly navigating in the era she landed in but it has been only 8 episodes out of which for like 2ish she thought everything was happening while shooting a tv series. she is in the beginning of her journey. if the writing keeps her that way throughout the show then yes i agree and you would be right and it would be such a waste of potential with the theme but i have to wait and see how she operates in the next episodes to get a better idea of how they will manage the plot and the character. for now it does seem too lighthearted but i honestly don't know if she has accepted she is boonta or even understands what is happening to her completely. i don't know if it is the writing or her character or the atmosphere of the drama in general but she seems really aloof during everything that's happening.
wtf is hayashi thinking? stalking someone you are interested in and using their moral compass as a way to manipulate your way into their life ?????? trying to ruin someone's career and life because you think they are dating the one you have a crush on??? and then go even harder when you learn it is actually their spouse? like WTF????!!! it is not cute, it is not smart and it is definitely creepy.
A 2022 C-drama with Victoria Song has the same title
yup they have the same english title but their native titles are different, this one is 恋人 "Lian Ren" which translates to Lovers(it can also mean Sweetheart or My Dearest ) while Victoria Song's translates to Everyone knows I love You
You're not being fair to zhao yan, she suffered the same curse as maiming and would've give up her life for him.…
i personally dont consider them villains that is why i used the quoting marks. the main characters are the ones who used the label. yes they sacrificed a lot of innocent lives. i dont question that. i am not focusing on whether what either side did was good or not just the fact that it was hypocritical of them to judge without knowing anything about the others or their situation and still thinking that they were right. the main characters towards the ending saw how their effort for everyone to be happy was meaningless and people still would die no matter which action they took. in the end it was about sacrificing as few people as possible. some decisions were selfish some were for the greater good. all of them involved sacrificing mortals. my issue solely lies with how they viewed the opposite side up until they themselves had to deal with the entire situation.

it's not about being fair or not. wanting everyone to be happy without acknoweldging the suffering of the people who sustain that peace and happiness up until it involves them is still hypocritical. the good guys didn't see how judgemental they were up until they learnt how the whole situation had affected them. it isn't upon them because they were ignorant due to the circumstances but they only got to see how some people had to suffer and make bad choices only when it was their turn to sacrifice something. only when they witnessed how powerless they were and that they couldn't save everyone only then did they somewhat understood the" villains". despite appreciating the character development i can still express how irritating their earlier attitude was.
for the people wondering how they got their business going after 4 years: the police caught the ceo who had run off with their money in ep12 after she jumped off the window. because the ceo had stolen their salaries and due to the fact that she still had some of the money, they could easily get that money back. plus they had already created some connection with their older costumers and probably had enough products in storage to keep the business going for a while up until they created their own market. 4 years seems fast but considering it was during the mid to late 90s plus the fact that they had a novelty product and a relatively new market to work with, they had a good chance to open the store in just 4 years.
tbh the hypocrisy of the "good guys" never fails to irritate me. like they want everyone to be happy but refuse to acknowledge how much the "villains" had to suffer and sacrifice. take maiming for example. zhuoyan knew his soul was trapped for 200 years forcing him to be reborn again and again only to suffer, she told him she wanted to live for herself and then when he found the only way to achieve both his freedom and hers albeit it was by sacrificing the entire clan they all acted like it was expected of him to continue suffering so as for everyone else to be ok. and lets not even get started with luohuan. everyone was fine with him being completely forgotten so as for them to be happy? and they only knew how to judge them as if they wouldn't do the same shit if their loved ones were included.
