did you watch the scene after that? it was definitely just Li Cheng dreaming... you might want to watch it again..…
Definitely genius on the show part. I did double take on that scene but then I realize that must be a dream because he wasn't wearing those clothes that night.

Aaah, the drug that makes you horny. Wonder how many times I've seen it in yaois. It usually ends with one guy…
I also agreed that Xing Si deserved better.

This is reason why I LOVE origin story. You end up feeling bad for them. He clearly needed to see therapist when he was kid. Yong Jie is not emotionally stable to be anyone partner right now. He definitely needs to use savings on future therapy bills.

Now lets get to meaty character that is Yong Jie. He is not meant to be character that you are suppose to be swooning over. The show makes that perfectly clear by having other characters react negatively towards Yong Jue actions thus far. Heck unlike other BL dramas, this show did not use the dubious consent scene as means to start the coupledom.

Yong Jie got hit, rejected, and ignored.

Yong Jie is proving to be quite the interesting character for me. Like I said I do enjoy dark complex characters more so if there is potential for redemption arc. I know a lot ppl do not like that he is like this because he is suppose to be a romantic lead but not all romantic leads are prince charming as proven by other tv shows who had very questionable male leads as romantic interest for main hero(ine). I wouldn't put it pass History team explore that type of romantic interest.

As for Xing Si, I totally understand why he feels guilty. Xing Si is good person. He is like a hufflepuff. Caring to a fault. He believes that Yong Jie's "feelings" is misplaced and may have influence Yong Jie to become gay for Xing Si if that is what takes to keep warmth aka Xing Si in his life.

Now I am curious how the show is going to handle Yong Jie. They either can redeem him or he just doesn't get with Xing Si. History already proven they are not above doing a sad ending (MODC).

Ep 7 was pretty good for me. I rewatch it already. I rarely do that but I wanted to so I make sure I didn't miss any details esp with Yong Jie. His character is very interesting because he is different from other typical BL romantic leads. He isn't wholesome character so the potential to see him become a better person is exciting or watching him fail to get Xing Si can be life lesson for those who think acting like Yong Jie is okay. Either way, this drama is my fav airing BL right now. So I hope the show keeps up good work.

I just finish ep 7. I am really enjoying the show. I really didn't think this is what I was signing up for based on first ep. The drama is definitely a lot more complex.

First thing first. I love Muren and Licheng. They are so darn cute. I am glad that whole vice president situation didn't go too far. I can only handle so many scenes like that. They are my fav couple in the show. I love that Licheng knows everything about Muren. Like dude, you sure you didn't like him before this. I want to know if he knows things much stuff about Xing Si like he does Muren. I just cannot wait for more scenes of them.

Now I will write about Yong Si in another post cause its gonna be long one.

It is possible if they play their cards right. It will require them to address the issue, having him apologize…
I hope so. I would prefer redemption arc. crossing fingers they get this right.

Rape is never okay. I hope one day these bl writers learn that and stop using it as a trope to bring the couples…
I agree that BL shows need to stop using dubious consent as trope to bring couple together but in this drama, I do not believe the show use that trope.

The reason why I say this is how Xing Si reacted after he woke up.

Normally when BL show uses dubious consent trope the ship starts a relationship (ex. kengla and techno).

BUT

In this show, Xing Si did not start a relationship with Yong Jie. Xing Si was visibly not okay with what happened. He thought he took advantage of his brother but when he found out that Yong Jie plan it, he got very upset.

Thus trope does not apply in this show so far. Now I am not sure about the future episodes but so far, Yong Jie's behavior has not been shown as cute or romantic.

I am glad that they are showing that Xing Si was not okay with what happened and did not immediately decided to be in relationship with Yong Jie. That is how they should handle scenes like that. Its not something you can just brush off like some dust on your shoulder. I also like that Xing Si (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOLIER stopseeingYongJie SPOILER SPOLIER. Now we know its not gonna last long but still its step up from acting like dubious consent is not biggie or as you said a device to get the ship together.

Lets just say I was a little shocked, actually I wasn't... I felt like he was gonna do something terrible aura…
It is possible if they play their cards right. It will require them to address the issue, having him apologize to Xing Si, reflecting on his behavior, and becoming a better person. I seen worst characters than him get redeemed (Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, Klaus and Damon in The Vampires Diaries, Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl etc). We just gotta see where the show will take us. Its either they gonna do it right or fall flat on their faces.

I love your analysis. This drama is complex and there are a lot of grey areas to explore. I think it delves into…
I also agree that this show is trying to explore the grey and darker human behavior. From the beginning, they are not playing off Yong Jie's obsession with Xing Si as cute.

The show didn't had Xing Si wake up and said lets be boyfriend or brush off the behavior like it was no big deal. Xing Si was shown to be very upset. When he found out that Yong Jie actually plan it, he became even more upset.

Yong Jie character is not fluffy character that made one off mistake. He already stalking him, breaking into his home, so this scene is totally in line with his character behavior as of right now.

The show has been very open with Yong Jie's twisted behavior and I do not think they have romanticize his behavior so far.

What I really want to see is how they going take such dark character and see if they going to have him have a redemption arc or they going to explore toxic relationship. I am game either way.

Finally saw ep 6. Lord Jesus where do I begin. Sorry for the long post but Ep 6 requires it.

Let's be honest, Yong Jie is very creepy. Let's ignore ep 6 for a min. He stalks Xing Si. He breaks into his home. He beat up Xing Si's friends because he is extremely possessive. He has so many red flags as character before ep 6 even happened.

Though he is borderline pyscho stalker, I do enjoy a dark character so I was very interesting in him as character and wondering how they going to make a character like him into romantic lead.

Then episode 6 happens.

What is confusing for me is that Yong Jie wasn't willing to kiss Xing Si while he was sleeping or drunk because he want him to be wake and sober but doing Xing Si when he is three sheets into wind is okay? ? ?? That logic.

I totally understand why some viewers have difficult time with that scene. Let's be frank, Yong Jie deliberately choose to get Xing Si drunk so he can do him. It wasn't a scene about two drunk people or Xing Si made a move first and Yong Jie gave into it. It was calculated move by Yong Jie who made a plan to get Xing Si drunk enough so that Xing Si will be open to his advances. His birthday present to himself. His words not mine.

On the other hand, people can argue that Xing Si does seem to be lucid enough to hold conversation with Yong Jie during this scene, heck he even ask him why Yong Jie was kissing him everywhere but his mouth. So I can see why some would argue that Xing Si did give consent.

That scene is dubious consent. Xing Si may have feelings for Yong Jie but he clearly wasn't ready to act on it. Yong Jie shouldn't have taken advantage of him while he was drunk.

Personally I won't stop watching the drama because I like main couple and like I said before I do like dark characters with a redemption arc. I want them to address Yong Jie's flaws and make him become a better man for Xing Si. There are a lot of good examples of characters who got redeemed. One of my personal fav redemption arc is Prince Zuko from Avatar. So I really hoping (i know i am being awfully optimistic) that is the directions that writers will go for.

I am enjoying the series. Its already on my fav bl drama to watch right now. The characters are hoot to watch. It reminds me of twdrama humor that is mostly seen in idols dramas. You either gonna love or hate it.
