Lol yes, it can really pull you out of the scene and make it hard to suspend belief. Somehow I doubt it's in her contract, but I looked at the directors of the 2 dramas I've seen her in (Crush and My Girlfriend is an Alien), and the directors seem relatively new. Maybe they just don't have enough experience and/or have gotten lucky in the past with actors who already knew naturally what to do without them having to be as hands on.

I agree that she looks awkward during kiss scenes, and I've seen this in her other dramas too. I just wonder why the director doesn't watch after a scene is filmed and give her pointers. I know I've seen behind-the-scenes videos for other dramas where the director is really hands on, telling the leads exactly what to do to make a kiss scene look better or feel a certain way. Maybe she just hasn't encountered a director like that before. Other than the kisses, I felt the 2 leads had good chemistry.

Thanks, I love spoilers like this, and I've read Ingrid's before too. :) I've finished the series, but it still helps for future reference. I just wish the director had given Wan Peng some pointers on how to make kissing look more realistic. She often stands with closed lips without moving. I feel that she's a good actor in all other respects, emotes well, has good chemistry with her co-star, but just falls short in kissing scenes. I've noticed this in her other dramas too (e.g., My Girlfriend is an Alien). Hopefully, she'll improve in future dramas.

According to their MDL listings, the director of My Fated Boy was the producer of My Neighbour Can't Sleep. Also, both shows have the same screenwriter. The two of them (director/producer and screenwriter) seem to work together a lot.

The main leads get together at the end of ep 14. In terms of Li Tian, there's a confrontation at the end of ep 8 that leads to less of a focus on her storylines. Eventually, she learns, becomes a better person, and helps the main leads out near the end of the series. I just kind of view her as a young, headstrong child, so I don't dislike her as much. ;)

When you say "2nd female lead", I assume you mean Li Tian? I'm not sure if she's really the 2nd FL because the FL's 2 friends are major characters. As a character on her own, I don't really like Li Tian either. But I didn't mind her character just because the ML always made it so clear to her that she didn't have a chance, and it was a way for us to see how much he cared for the FL, no matter what obstacles they faced.

I actually liked the pacing of the series, the development of the characters, the chemistry between the leads, just the pure romance of it all. The 1st 5 eps were really interesting to me. If you didn't like them, this probably just isn't the type of show you prefer.
