Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
Where are you guys watching the subtitles are not that great on kisskh
kisskh is using mangotv susbs so its imminenet to be crap but ever since i've found goplay.su it's the only one i use since they take directly from the streaming websites. i found safari doesn't run the website very well but if you use firefox or chrome it should be fine.

for this show you can choose to watch from the Viki, IQIYI or WeTV servers although i do think Viki is the best, but since it's 2 episodes behind, the next best option would be WeTV.

Also didn't expect to have so many kiss scenes in this show. I mean it makes sense they had already kissed, hugged…
Oh i'm very glad to hear that i'd already been planning to watch Story of ming lan but hadn't had the time till recently so it's probably what i'll be watching next. I first saw a clip of ming lan being heavily pregnant and going out with a sword to get a doctor for her friend who was in labour and from that alone i knew it was a show i HAVE to watch!

Her sister character was soooooo annoying in The Princess's Gambit. So nice to see her get a much better role…
Oh i love the FL so much as well and it's also my first show seeing her in! The way i can feel how GJZ love differs for every male lead is just amazing! Ren Min is perfect for the role and i have no issues with her acting. The costume and makeup suit her here so much too!

ep29 was sooooo delicious i feel like i could watch it over and over again!!!!
Also didn't expect to have so many kiss scenes in this show. I mean it makes sense they had already kissed, hugged and held hands even before getting married so the wedding night felt more natural and less awkward in a way.

CXQ actually needs to get a grip! She liked him 3 years ago and that was only becuase she thought he saved her, then ghosted her. She hasn't thought of him once in the last few years so why does he think she suddenly would now, not to mention he's engaged too?? He made his choice 3 years ago and so did she. Like why does he think he has the right to be upset about anything and try to put GJZ in such a difficult and awkward position!?!? Leave her alone you weirdo!

Luckily this is my first time seeing this actress so all i can think about now is how cute she is, but yes I think now that they're married we'll see a lot more interactions between the sisters-in-law.

slowly catching up with the episodes from ep20 and omg there is nothing but evil behind FHL's eyes. YY is trying to stay ambigous about his marriage ambitions but FHL already looks like hes scheming something.

Also GL character development is so interesting to me I hope they keep the sister bond strong between them for the rest of the show.

whenever someone except ml get some screentime they start to yapping like, the story is not even about him it…
I wonder that if they had released the final trailers with similar themes to the the first trailer (that I could only find on reddit for some reason) then people would be more aware going into it that it's a politics and family feud driven drama as much as it is about romance. (https://www.reddit.com/r/CDrama/comments/1t27gor/a_splendid_match_liang_chen_mei_jin_良陈美锦_from/).

The trailer better showed how the drama was sort of split into 3 parts: Gu family drama, Main leads falling in love/marriage and their involvement in court politics after marriage. Compared to the final trailers you can find on YouTube which focus on who the FL will marry out of the 3 pursuits making it seem like that is the whole central point of the show even though it's only like a 1/3 which could be a bit misleading for some if that's all they expected. The romance also doesn't begin in the novel until after almost 200 chapters so I didn't expect the romance to be rushed in the show either.

Personally I'm enjoying all the parts and characters in the show. It's also why I prefer longer shows because it allows the writers and viewers to spend more time seeing the FL go through experiences which shape her view of the world and of what she wants for herself. I like the acting, especially how consistent the characters are in their personalities and decisions. Like of course she isn't going to say yes to the MLs proposal overnight because that's just not who she is or how she makes decisions. The characters are definitely the strongest point of the show.

Ye Xian was never a potential future partner -marriage prospect for Jin Zhao. It’s clearly a one-sided crush…
I got reminded of pride and prejudice the other day and when I reached the episode where he helps her brother and upkeep the family reputation, in some ways Yan Yun reminded me of MrDarcy. I imagine soon we'll also see others questioning why she'd want to marry him when everyone knows him as this serious, intimidating and cold court official. But their reasons for marrying will only mater to each other and it makes me so excited to see it in the future episodes!!

Totally agree with the friendship dynamic between Jin Zhao and Ye Xian especially since they're quite close in age. Although ive seen others say they pity him I just can't stop myself from hating him after being so carless towards the FL and hurting not just emotionally but physically too. He is an incredibly manipulative and selfish person who I see no character development for honestly. Other than princess Wanning from The Double, most of the time I am unable to feel sympathy for a character or villain who repeatedly hurts those around them for the sake of their own self satisfaction.

Didn't really have much problem with the FL as much as I did with the lack of direction and objective in the script.

I'm wondering if this is a relationship or just friends? The reviews say very mid....👀
If you’re referring to intimate scenes there aren’t any like the best thing or pursuit of jade, there’s 5 kiss scenes and they are very touchy with each other.

I'm wondering if this is a relationship or just friends? The reviews say very mid....👀
This might be a little long but compared to what other comments say I actually thought this drama's plot was centred quite heavily around their relationship and their desire to be together even if her sect and everyone around the FL criticised her for it. To me their romance was very obvious and straight forward. Not sure how many spoilers you want but the connection between them starts as a friendship while feelings begin to develop, after the FL finds out he's part of the Demon sect is when the romance starts progressing quicker. She finds out he's a demon a little quicker than I expected around ep6 so it's not like they made his identity a secret for the FL to be upset about later. The ML is also very clingy and slightly jealous which was really cute. She obviously feels the same way but tries to hold back because she knows her sect would criticise and punish her for falling for a demon. Not sure why others would say the romance wasn't obvious enough when they clearly sacrificed a lot for each other and always wanted to find their way back to each other no matter how much they tried to keep a distance. Which meant that there was a lot of yearning and longing when they couldn't be together. Even when the SML tries to make a move, she makes it very clear to him that she only thinks of him as a friend because she'd only ever love the ML.

Also when the synopsis describes her as a 'witch', it actually meant that the previous generations of women in her family always ended up falling in love with a demon and 'betraying' their own sect. This kind of creates a foreshadowing that it's also in her destiny to fall in love with a demon and 'betray' her sect which explains why the Six sects are so against her falling in love with him. But the 'betrayal' isn't really a betrayal in my opinion its just what the six sects want to make it seem like because they're very discriminatory towards the demon sect while ignoring their own past wrongdoings.

Went a little off track but I really enjoyed the romance and the chemistry between the actors worked really well so I would say if you like wuxia and forbidden romance then give this show a try. I thought the OST was also really good.

how red flag does he kill innocent people abuse FL etc 🤔
Depends what your limit of a red flag is. It wasn’t abuse he just manipulated the situation really well because he didn’t want the FL to leave and always stay by his side but in the end he always let her go to return to her sect. He mostly just had a really hard time letting her go and always wanted to be around her. The FL was also deeply in love and she sacrificed a lot for him by going against her sect to save him but it turns out he took a gamble and made himself get caught by her sect to make her choose between him and her sect. It was more like the manipulation of the situations than direct manipulation of her. But he definitely redeemed himself for everything in the end.

Quite enjoyed it actually, I think 8 is a bit too low. Honestly didn't even feel the time fly by considering 40eps shows usually take me a bit longer to finish. Fantastic chemistry, intriguing plot and I just think wuxia's are so interesting in general but also I will always eat up a forbidden lovers romance. The ending was very fitting and I'm glad things turned out well for everyone. Ngl the first half of the last episode scared me so I did cry my eyes out even though I'm usually fine with a sad or happy ending, but this time it would've been a pity if they went through so many hardships and overcame so many obstacles only to end up like the previous generations. I'd already heard that the ML was a red flag before watching the show so it was very pleasant to see his redemption arc.

This was also the second work by this director I've watched and now I realised why the deaths in The Double stuck with me for so long. I love the way this director captures tragedy and death, sometimes even making me feel sympathy for the villains death.

I’m surprised to see so much hate for the FL. I thought the reasoning behind the breakup made complete sense…
Disappointed but not surprised by the reactions to the FLs choices. Anyone who has gone through something similar would understand but if the FL made a choice that made her seem 'selfish' and 'hurt' the ML then immediately people say he's too good for her. Seen it happen so much even in cdramas. Seen reactions like these to Our Beloved Summer, Something in the Rain, The First Frost, Till the End of the Moon only to name a few. It's becoming very apparent that people can't just see the FL as a character in her own right but as something purely to facilitate the romantic relationship.

I think everything was set up well for explaining why the break up happened. I sympathise with both characters and sometimes that's just how harsh life can be. Instead of focusing on what happened during her time working at the hotel, what happened to her father and how the main leads are going to get back together, no let's focus on hating the FL.

So far the chemistry is so good it has me kicking my feet in the air and I keep thinking about them even the day after finishing the first episodes. The portrayal of a clumsy but thrilling first love and relationship is totally my cup of tea. I'm ready for the emotional roller coaster the next episodes will bring. Also, there's just something very charming about romance when both people have more 'normal' jobs, for me it helps make it feel like their love is theirs and theirs only.

At first I was worried that 10 episodes would not be enough for me to enjoy as a romance as even most 12 episode romances haven't felt convincing enough because it wasn't enough time for me. But based on the pacing of this show they'll probably make it work well with 10 episodes.

Was considering watching this before because it seemed like an interesting premise but after waiting a few episodes to see others reviews first, it doesn’t seem like it’s going the direction I expected it to. I would’ve thought it would be a story about family, grief, learning how to carry on living with U-ju, learning from the hardships they face while valuing the precious memories they make together. It seems like it just became focused on a useless love triangle. If it went in the slice of life direction of Hi, Bye Mama I think this would’ve become a much more promising and memorable show.
