I've found that the more dramas I watch, the pickier I become.  I generally enjoy stories that don't rely on a-typical tropes to move them, but effective and creative use of tropes is actually acceptable.  Even predictable stories are fine as long as they are told well.  I don't, on the other hand, enjoy overly realistic stories... fiction should take you "out" of reality, since obviously we get enough reality as it is.
