From me, 8.5/10.... This high rating is only because of the first 11 episodes. I enjoyed a lot! They were very…
Yeah, I loved episodes 1-11 so much that I'm actually still giving it a 9, only because ep 11 was my fav of the series and left things on a high note. That and the remaining eps didn't compromise the OTP. I am happy they stayed together through everything, but it really was unnecessary to put them through all this. There were a few winning moments here and there, but if I ever rewatch I'll most likely skip the last few episodes.
OMG the webtoon is so good but the longer i watch this the more i feel tortured...i really don't understand how…
I actually think Mi-rae is less shy in the drama. Anyway, I'm actually loving both versions of the main characters. They are slightly different, but somehow I love them both. I also like this version of Kyung-seok, even though, yes, he isn't perfect. Somehow I like his gaze and mannerisms still, even if he gives a slightly different feel to the character and is pretty green. I think they need to start exploring and dealing with his reconciliation with his mom so that the character starts developing in the same way as the webtoon.
I also really enjoy some things they're doing with this version, like the conflict with her father and the frank dialogues of the leads. That said, I do want things to move a bit faster starting next week.
The bullying in this drama is over the top and the cast acts more like immature high schooler than college students…
I have a different perspective. I do think you have some valid points about the execution not being perfect, but I definitely don't see the things depicted as being completely ridiculous. Groupthink, peer pressure, several immature social situations all occur at college and maybe that's why it's hard for me to judge this drama's handling since it doesn't seem that far from what my Korean friend actually described going through.
I don't know how to argue the college bullying thing, since our experiences seem different. In my experience, freshman year at college people DID act more like highschoolers than adults. That doesn't mean I didn't find mature people eventually, but that certainly wasn't the norm at first.
I will say that I actually find the leads of this drama more refreshing, mature than most "adults" in other dramas lately, despite how flawed they are. Like, they actually talk through their issues and call each other out for their flawed perspectives. For one, the drama is acknowledging that the FL needs to speak up and not be as naive. It doesn't cut her slack for her own character flaws and ML is given the same treatment. I appreciate that part of the writing more than anything. Though the male lead has assisted Mi-rae, she's also stood up for herself in several situations. Ultimately, I feel they've accurately portrayed how a character with self-confidence issues will not change overnight. That sort of nuanced character writing has been lacking in these youthful coming of age stories and it's allowed me to look past some slight exaggeration on the show's part.
I don't understand why you say there's no romance ajdhaslkjshf ;_; It's over half way through the…
I am so with you! I love their "something" relationship right now. And I'm really loving how the romance is not the focal point here, but more a natural progression from the strong friendship the leads are building now. They are already completely adorable! I think it helps to allow the characters more growth in other areas so that they fall in love after helping each other to find the best versions of themselves. That's romance.
anyone else is getting Goblin vibes from this? Great visuals, long episodes, nothing much happens, characters…
I see what you're getting at... I feel it too. But most of the music montages in this were of the dog, so I thought it was funny rather than over the top lol. And I actually think more is going to happen with the story of the past lives than in Goblin. I also really did love the ending of the first ep and the music that played then.
