but tbh Ruan Yu was the first one to deny the fact that they knew eachother. In the novel, he said that he had initially come from the US to explain the novel plagiarism situation to her but when she told Liu Mao that xhs and her dont know eachother, he js went along with her. But at the same time he should've talked abt it with her alone later on. I guess the author js wanted a tiny but of angst somehow? even though its not exactly the sort of gut wrenching angst
