that's understandable, there are actors/actresses who don't resonate with me and would affect my decison on watching their dramas. FYI the lead romance isn't central to FOF, it's focused more on the group friendships, especially the ML and 2ML. I think Chen Duling is good here, she plays her role with a good sarcastic sense of humour to match Minghao, unfortunately the FL role was pretty underwritten but it's not her fault, so as long as you're into a found family dynamic instead of needing a strong romance you'll enjoy it. Oh and you have to be in the mood for angst, Minghao definitely delivers on the angst!
If FOF changes your mind on Duling, I'd highly rec her recent drama The Glory, her character and story is top notch but it is let down by the ML acting but not enough to distract from the good drama
@Neo ChaoYue you'll love FOF if you're into xinxia and found family trope, personally I think this is when Hou Minghao leveled up his acting, he imbued his character with so much pathos, grief, regret and hope, it was a joy to watch him click into his acting and since then he's been on top of his game.
completely agree with your insights, I really like that this drama cares about building its internal logic and…
Thanks for such detailed examples, I agree there are many "inherent" things that can be taught and nurtured when young to ensure people can think beyond their own needs and wants. It was shown earlier that she isn't secluded in the palace, she definitely interacts with commoners out in the "real world" so if she's a fully functioning adult she should be aware of how war affects commoners *shrugs*. Given how logical this writer is, I wonder if they'll focus on the princess' growth as she experiences the harsh realities of her actions and choices, she's definitely someone who needs to learn by doing. I hope she doesn't stay stagnant as a character and be just a foolish woman. Unlike everyone here who just wants her to die, I want her to evolve. Similar to a journey to love, it would be amazing if writers can show the transformation of sheltered princesses into great rulers, there's so much great setup to be wasted on the predictable tropes. Let her earn the right to be FSG's sister and live up to her parent's legacy.
ep 13&14the show is top spot for me atm :')these epis were so well paced and I'm glad they gave the charas…
completely agree with your insights, I really like that this drama cares about building its internal logic and doesn't take writing shortcuts to get to a particular scene, very surprising the screenwriter did everlasting longing cos this is so much superior.
Things could've been different if FSG and raised his sis to be his partner in crime, kept her involved with his schemes as a way to protect her so she knows what to look out for, but we all have blindspots, especially when his mother's murder traumatised him so much. But even as a pampered sheltered princess, the fact that she has no love for her citizens and would throw them under the bus for her "one true love" she met for 10mins shows her nature. Ignorance and naivety is a by-product of her upbringing, but her selfishness is all on her
I can't read chinese, does anyone know if according to the calendar here, are they dropping express for all eps on 2 Oct? https://kisskh.at/photos/JB7NAd_3
Masked man is definitely involved, and I don't know why I get the feeling he has that 3rd fish.
@Enigma05 the ghost soldiers are part of the Tomb series lore, I'm not familiar with the intricacies of that world but i believe @Baebaexin is quite well versed in the series so I've appreciated their insights into the easter eggs sprinkled across this drama. If you rewatch ep2 you'll see the camera lingers on the grey haired shifu's wrist tattoo, this supposedly tells the tomb series fans that he's linked to the ghost soldiers. There is speculation that Gaoming shifu might also have the same tattoo, therefore making him a ghost soldier

@Baebaexin speculated earlier that the shifu had the "dead" tattoo on his wrist so he might be a ghost soldier that was commanded to help ZH so when his task was completed he burned himself to return to his dead state.
Xi Yun Lai's acting is a such a huge disappointment. I was excited to watch more of his acting but all he has…
I wholeheartedly agree, to be frank most people think a good ML character and eye candy equals good acting. It doesn't help that cdramaland doesn't prioritize the acting craft, let's hope this drama's success will give him more motivation to work on his acting technique for future projects
Hi, would love people's opinion on how this compares to rise of ning? I love smart and cunning MLs and FLs like in TRON and SOKP so am looking forward to starting Si Jin when all eps have aired.
It's showing 2 hrs left in mdlBut it's 4 hrs to air in kisskh
please stop naming sites here, dramacool was shut down last month because too many people kept posting about it. If we don't want to lose other sites we need to be careful about what we talk about. The common practice is to DM people if they want to know where to catch shows instead of posting it freely on mdl where anyone can see
