period queen! tune in to Jack o’Frost for a palate cleanser from these lame kbls 🤗
yay I’m glad! I hope you enjoy it! it’s been a gorgeous watch and the casting is fantastic.
that’s an interesting point you bring up too as most of the jbl adaptations seem to be well-regarded, while most of the kbl adaptations pale in comparison to their source material, at least from what I hear when they are airing. I guess it helps when you actually take your work seriously 🫡
another atrocious concept and script from a kbl.. I only gave this one a try for Roshin cause the trailer was giving typical bland kbl, and the first episode just proved my suspicions correct. kdramas aren’t really known for having good dialogue or realistic conversations in general but lord these always take the mid to a whole new level! the production quality isn’t as bad as many of these tend to be (IE the sound quality), but any sense of creativity or passion in the direction is nonexistent. meanwhile japan knocks it out of the park nearly every single time, with almost the same amount of episodes and runtime. it’s truly embarrassing that these shows keep coming out the way they do without creative teams who actually care, or are at least competent enough to create something more than a few weeks worth of filler watched only by hardcore bl stans. dropped immediately!
good lord that first episode felt like watching paint dry. I couldn’t even keep my eyes open toward the end. if the second ep is the same way then this is definitely a skip for me
objectively the most amateurish of all the tunku series, feeling more akin to a thai or korean bl than a japanese one. the visual and audio presentation, directing, dialogue and acting are all waaayyy below par. its problems are especially glaring as it comes immediately after the masterpiece that was Eternal Yesterday. I can safely say I will not be tuning in next week. really sad to hear that this timeslot will be going out on such a low note, as I enjoyed seeing consecutive bl releases being consistently available globally at a reliable time, even if I only liked two of the series.
nobody’s triggered we just don’t gaf 😭 drop it and move on.. and i don’t remember anyone asking the peanut gallery to chime in with “well ackshually you should drop it because...” 🤷♀️
if you haven't already seen it yet: 2gether (along with followup special Still 2gether) is the best queer show GMM has ever put out, by FAR. it's a really well-done love story that is clearly crafted with actual queer people in mind, rather than just the usual straight girl audience. the production value for the first season isn't the highest but the writing and character interactions go above and beyond any possible aesthetic limitations. i would advise anyone to give it a try at least once, especially if they're turned off by the obnoxious melodrama and unlikable characters from Theory of Love.
