As a big fan of the series & novel, I have to say that this "remake" was relatively disappointing.
After watching the first episode, it made me realise the importance of the acting skills of the actors playing each character. The way Nikaido Fumi portrayed "Himekawa Reiko" was relatively different from how it was portrayed in the book & the original series. I even wondered if she had read the book or did prior research at all.
I could say many more things about the main cast but I will hold back. Out of my love for the book, I would probably continue watching.
P.S. For people who are new to this series, please read the books by Tetsuya Honda. Only two titles have been translated into English which is "Strawberry Night"(English title is "The Silent Dead") and "Soul Cage". I really hope that they will translate the remaining books as well.
